Largely because I can’t find it & I can’t be bothered to tear the house up looking for it at the moment.

The issue is DC1 is 3 next month & tall for his age, like 99 per centile tall. I’m 5ft 10 & DH is 6ft 4 so it’s to be expected but will we be stopped & have to pay adult fare?

Eh?? It would not occur to me to take a passport... many people wouldn't even have one?

puppower · 28/03/2018 20:09

Yes I completely agree & DC2 who is 12 months doesn’t have one yet. However how do we prove our 2 yr old who is the height of a 3.5 yr old is 2?

Jonsey79 · 28/03/2018 20:09

Lots of people won't have one. Take a photo of his birth certificate on your phone maybe?

HughGrantsHair · 28/03/2018 20:10

Adult fare for a 2 year old?

puppower · 28/03/2018 20:10

Oh that is a good idea! although I will have to try & find that! Having some building work done so house is a bloody mess.

why would you need a passport to go to LEGOLAND?
Is it in the Netherlands?

elliejjtiny · 28/03/2018 20:11

My DC don't have passports. The only time we have ever been questioned about their ages was on the bus when ds1 was 4 and in school uniform. The driver asked him how old he was and ds1 said 29 Grin.

malovitt · 28/03/2018 20:14

They won't bat an eyelid as long as the adults pay.

freakydeakydo · 28/03/2018 20:14

Birth certificate?

Mightymucks · 28/03/2018 20:14

Has he got a child bus pass or travel card or oyster?

puppower · 28/03/2018 20:15

Adult fare for a 2 year old?

If your over 3 years old you pay the same price as an adult. As he is only 2 & therefore free I don’t want to get stung by paying £50 or so on the door.

OP posts:
Amanduh · 28/03/2018 20:16

If he’s 2 he wouldn’t need a travelcard or oyster either..?

puppower · 28/03/2018 20:16

The driver asked him how old he was and ds1 said 2

😂 I just asked him his age & he said “5, no I’m 1, I want to be a baby”.

OP posts:
puppower · 28/03/2018 20:17

Yes I think travel is free for under 5s

Surely nobody ever pays for child entry though - there are always vouchers for free children when adults pay.

AnneLovesGilbert · 28/03/2018 20:30

We've just been. Didn't pay for the kids. I don't think anyone does. It was a Legoland promotion - kids go free.

puppower · 28/03/2018 20:30

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall

No idea as never been there before but we have been given some vouchers.

OP posts:
puppower · 28/03/2018 20:31

AnneLovesGilbert

Ok, the vouchers are the equivalent of 2 full priced tickets which would cover myself & DH. Did you enjoy it?

Britneylily · 28/03/2018 20:34

I was worried about this as we had drive 8 hours to get there before I read the T&C which state you need a passport. My 2 year 11 month old is only the 25th centile so I wasnt worried about height but his speech is excellent which made me worried. We we never asked for anything and this was October last year so I think you should be ok.

We even got on the 3 year + driving school touch wood so i worked really well. Enjoy!

Rachie1986 · 28/03/2018 20:36

I don't think kids go free is a promotion currently... That sounds weird.

OP put your nearly 3yo in a pushchair, when our DD was nearly 3 and fairly tall she was in a pushchair and wasn't even glanced at. Still isn't now until she demands she holds her annual pass and gives it to them.

Rachie1986 · 28/03/2018 20:37

PS obviously I can't guarantee they won't check, and if they do it would be best to have some ID, but if you really can't find it, cross everything and use a pushchair!

puppower · 28/03/2018 20:40

Britneylily Not just me then! Well his speech is rubbish so perhaps that will help. Rachie we will have the pushchair with us so will make sure he’s strapped in, thanks.

Take evidence if you can find it.
We went to Disney when DD2 was a few days short of her 3rd birthday. She therefore qualified for the 'baby' rate. However DD2 looked more like a 4 year old than a not yet 3 year old. I got very good with my terrible rusty French answering the somewhat suspicious "Where is the baby?" question with pointing at DD2 and saying "It is her birthday next week. She will be 3 years old. She is very tall. Her father is very tall." I sounded ridiculous but otherwise we'd have paid a fortune for her.

Britneylily · 28/03/2018 20:46

Apologies for the shocking typing Smile

I was really upset given how far we had travelled and were staying onsite so checking in to the hotel I could have cried however literally no one looked at the kids or questioned their age. We didnt have a pram but did have a sling , if you take the pram I am sure this will help. The height measurement was all the checked for the rides and my ds was just on the line for the rides ( i think 0.9m ) so your dc should be fine.
Just say you dont have the passport if questioned but honestly I am sure it wont be an issue. We loved it and only really went for our older DC but the almost 3 year old enjoyed it alot more than I had been expecting so if we did have to pay for a ticket it wouldnt have been the end of the world.

Muddlingalongalone · 28/03/2018 20:49

Put her in a pushchair - they won't even ask in my experience. Maybe take a photo of her passport/bc just in case?
Def use vouchers & if you can go midweek term time
