To spend all day on the sofa with my baby?

DS 9 weeks old. Since he was born we both have had a pretty crap time. My recovery has been rubbish and he was life threatening poorly for the first two weeks . Older DC goes to nursery 4x a week and DH does the pick ups/drop offs so during this time for the past few weeks I have been making the most of literally sitting on the sofa with DS and pretty much just hugging him all day with films on. A lot of the time staying in leggings and just relaxing.

He’s very chilled and it’s been bliss. The offer days I have the older DC so we do get fresh air and lots of play etc but I’m starting to feel guilty. With my first, I was constantly playing with her and going to baby classes and walks etc but this time I’m loving our current set up. I don’t think I’ve felt this relaxed in about 6 years!

So WIBU to keep doing sweet nothing for as long as he’ll let me or do you think this is bad for him?

A young baby doesn't need walks or baby classes. All it needs is love, warmth, milk and a clean nappy which your son is obviously getting.Don't feel guilty about doing nothing, you are busy bonding.Relax and enjoy it while you can x

Sounds perfect to me !

Mine is 8 weeks, and I'm wearing a serious groove in our sofa. I've been through ten seasons of friends, and I'm working my way through mad men now. It's bliss. I know it won't last forever so I'm making the most of it.

I've got obsessed with watching Say Yes to the Dress while I'm on mat leave with DS.

Sounds perfect, carry on and enjoy it. I wish DS would still do that, he's 8 months and doesn't sit still on me now

I did that with DD as she was my 2nd. Very fond memories and wouldn't have changed it for the world! Very occasionally I had a burst of energy so blitzed some decorating (!) but only because I wanted to and was getting a bit bored eventually.

Mines 8 weeks old and we stay in bed on the days we don’t have to do anything/be somewhere. Sometimes we get dressed and hang out on the bed, other times it’s PJs all the way! All they need is love and food at this age Smile

Thank you - you've made me feel better. Doing the exact same thing with dc2 at a very similar age when I get the chance.

My baby is the other side of the world and I would give an awful lot to wind back the clock to those cuddle days. Sad

What more does a nine week want but cuddles milk and love.

Totally enjoy

I watched the Olympics/Paralympics 2012 with DD1 and The Blacklist/countless films on now tv with DD2. Considering having another dc so I can have more snuggle time!

Baby classes are no different to what is going on at home. There babies drying paint would be interesting for them there minds are always engaged.

Keep doing what you are doing

If you're happy then go for it. I had to get out of the house and see people or I would have gone stir crazy but if it suits you crack on!
