So, the girl I sit beside at work sprays about 20-30pumps of her strong perfume in one go about every 2hours, I always sneeze and get a migraine.
I've told her this many times and literally have to walk away cause it OFFENDS my nostrils!! I feel like I'm suffocating. Wtf. Would this piss you off or is it just me??
Maybe I'm sensitive but it does my head in. I need to moan. She is extremely annoying.

Is there a manager you can have s word with? That's very excessive perfume use and plenty of people are allergic to perfumes.

To be honest her behaviour is unprofessional and inconsiderate. And she needs to be sorted out but preferably by a manager.

Sarsparella · 28/03/2018 09:44

That’s too much, have a word with your manager there’s no need to spray that much perfume!

Ellendegeneres · 28/03/2018 09:56

I’dose my shit. Migraines are hell, mine would be brought on by less- I’d have to have a word with management, totally unacceptable

blackteasplease · 28/03/2018 09:58

I think you'll have to have a word with your manager.

Tell her/ him you've tried to sort it out yourself first as I know they can get annoyed if people run straight to management.

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 28/03/2018 10:00

not just you, she is really taking liberties! It would be bad enough in the bathroom, totally unacceptable in the office.

Grilledaubergines · 28/03/2018 10:01

It must cost her a fortune.

TheHulksPurplePants · 28/03/2018 10:01

Not sure how big your office is, but there's rules against spraying perfume in mine. I would check on your office policies.

justilou1 · 28/03/2018 10:25

Oh gross! Nasal Assault should totally be a thing. I'd fake sneezing and wheezing and red eyes, etc... then complain.

CourtWithPantsDown · 28/03/2018 10:28

Next time she does it, fake an asthma attack. Tell your boss it was triggered by her perfume.

Idontdowindows · 28/03/2018 10:40

Check with your boss. And no, you're not being unreasonable at all.

She is being unreasonable. I'm amazed you've put up with it for this long without calling her everything under the sun.

Mustang27 · 28/03/2018 11:13

I have fibromyalgia and perfume causes a flare actually lots of really strong smells this would be a request to move seats for me.

TaytoAllDay · 28/03/2018 11:13

I am so happy that you all have agreed so far! Such a relief.
It's ridiculously excessive. I've actually never seen anything like it, it's been so hard to not throttle her. I'm going to mention it to her once she does it again & if she won't stop I'll talk to our line manager, nightmare!
Also, I definitely think I'm going to have to act more dramatically next time she does it Wink
Honestly, she must spend a ridiculous amount on perfumes. I keep one bottle for 6months + , she's got a new one every week Hmm

We actually have a small sign up in our office that says that no cosmetics are to be sprayed in the office building (even in the toilets) as it can have severe consequences for those with asthma, migraines and some forms of epilepsy. I would take her to one side and have a serious conversation with her.

BetterEatCheese · 28/03/2018 11:27

That would make me ill and would bother me. Perfumes are a migraine trigger for me. Maybe a compromise, spray it in the bathroom only?

DeleteOrDecay · 28/03/2018 11:41

That is ridiculous, no one needs that much perfume at once.

CourtWithPantsDown · 28/03/2018 12:00

Short of dramatically flaking onto the floor (which I advocate), I think you should arrange a meeting with your manager and this woman.

In the meeting you should be very firm and say that you've had a word with her about this on several occasions but nothings changed so now you've had to involve the manager.

Say that her excessive spraying of perfume is triggering migraines which is impacting on your quality of work. Set out very clearly what you want to happen (i.e. no spraying in the shared office environment) and what you will do if this doesn't happen... I guess this next course of action depends on what your workplace is like.
