AIBU to not know how to cope ? How will I get anything done ? Do I need to adjust his whole day - we have a loose sort of schedule and usually do an activity most mornings ( swimming / toddler group etc) Earlier dinner & bath eeekkkk ?

Toddler is only 20 months but has just fallen asleep after no nap all day. He usually goes to bed much later...oh dear, he’s not had dinner.

In my experience they often try to resist their nap around this age. Try and stick with it- you should be able to get another 6 months at least. For tonight, I’d be waking him up in 15 minutes if I were you and giving him dinner.
If he really isn’t dropping the nap, don’t worry. It’s actually quite liberating when you don’t have to always be factoring it in!

If he really IS dropping the nap I mean

Mine has just started dropping nap at 25 months. Still sleeps at Nursery though. Sop. I feel your pain.

Dd2 has utterly dropped her nap at 13 months...

Peopleplease · 27/03/2018 19:31

DD1 dropped her nap at 19 months but wound need one every 3 days or so!

I liked the freedom it gave.

I found that happening to be out in the car early afternoon helped.
e.g. Swim late morning, then lunch at swimming place, then drive home the long route. This was from about 2.5.

I managed to do a bit of downtime instead of nap for a while, quiet toys in her room but I agree, try to persevere - naps til 2-2.5 is more usual and the tiredness escalates so napping every few days might come before they stop completely.

What time does he normally go to bed? You may manage to get an early bedtime and claw back some time to yourself that way. My 20month is doing the same at the moment , such a pain but hoping it's a phase!

Do things after they're in bed and only do what really needs doing, when they're awake. my under 1 year old has dropped her nap unless she's in buggy and I'm walking, then only rarely. before this she only napped for 15-30 mins. Not enough time for a hot cuppa lol.

Swimming lesson tomorrow, so he surely will nap after that ?! He usually goes to bed at 8 but to sleep is another matter. He’s usually a night owl and doesn’t play quietly ever Confused

Will try for some earlier bedtimes, I just need to be more organised about dinner.

The thing is I feel like I need a nap most days ( don’t have one) so don’t know how he does it ?!

I can’t wait for Ds to drop his lol. He only has an hour or so in the day but it can be a battle - though his CM gets one out of him perfectly fine daily!

I honestly can’t wait for it to stop so I don’t have to deal with a grumpy toddler later on!
