Long term poster, n/c for this as massively outing.

I have a new manager at work, been there 5 months, I have been there about 15 years. Got on v well with previous manager, great appraisals, felt valued and appreciated.

New manager only criticises. Never praises, never asks about my work, never asks for updates, never asks about my team. Emails or calls me for meetings to criticize me.

In meetings I stand my ground but DH thinks I am being managed out. I ignore the emails but is this a mistake? Should I be replying to each one to fight my corner? AIBU and very shortsighted to not email anything back?

Can you take this higher? It's a very bad way to manage people. For one thing surely she should speak to you face to face rather than slag you off in emails?

It's so demotivating and agree it's terrible management.

Just feel if I answer I'm getting into 'he said she said' territory and cba with all that. But yes, paper trail is a concern.

What a waste of time (mine).

To be honest if your husbands feeling is correct then I very much doubt whether or not you reply will make any difference.
I probably would very carefully and politely just so you have a paper trail in the event that you can take it further... if it's senior management though they will probably have backing from HR

The manager is managing you out and you're helping her by not responding to her emails. You need to always respond, factually and assertively but not aggressively. You need to box clever with this new manager. Are you a member of a union? If not, sign up pronto and get some advice. Also speak to ACAS.
