To plonk DS I front of teletubbies

Because I am pretty sure I have a chest infection and can't face doing anything.

I feel so guilty that I should be cherishing this time as he's only a baby for a short while but I was literally falling asleep giving him his breakfast.

So would I be unreasonable to just let 7 month old DS stare intently at those 4 squidgy rainbow blobs instead of actually stimulating him.

MrsJayy · 26/03/2018 12:05

How are the squidgy things not stimulating colours movement and sound educational innit Grin just do it you feel rank

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/03/2018 12:09

Yanbu. We've all done it and anyone who says they haven't is lying.

EdmundCleverClogs · 26/03/2018 12:10

Yabu. Put on Hey Duggee instead, it won’t have driven you insane by the 20th episode.

bookmum08 · 26/03/2018 12:15

Maybe find a better programme! When my girl was that age she would sit and watch Neighbours with me.
(whether Neighbours could be classed as better than Teletubbies is a debate for another day!!!)

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/03/2018 12:17

Or are the Tweenies still going.
I used to love those when dd was a nipper.Grin.

Worieddd · 26/03/2018 12:18

Do what you gotta do to get through the day Flowers

MrsJayy · 26/03/2018 12:18

Oh god my Dd is 20 and I still have tweenie flashbacks Jake Tweenie was a pain in the arse 😀

Daffodils78 · 26/03/2018 12:19

You have to be ill to do that? Oops!

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 26/03/2018 12:26

Just do it, your DS needs his mum well and a rest will help. Honestly, sometimes you just have to. When DM had a bug when I was 1 or so, I spent two days repeat watching the same taped off the tv vhs video of trooping the colour and beating the retreat for most of the day. I can honestly say it's had no lasting impact on me, other than possibly being the root of my men in uniform fetish and DM recovered fine!

ItalianOne · 26/03/2018 12:35

YABU he's way too young for tv,have a read about the connection between speech impairment and tv especially in boys.
And he's 7 months old! What stimulation does he need, play with same baby toys and being held is all they need at that age.

GinaLinetti99 · 26/03/2018 12:38

@ItalianOne - I can only presume you've never been really unwell and in sole charge of a child at the same time.

OP, get well soon. Do whatever you need to do to survive the day.

jaseyraex · 26/03/2018 12:39

There's always one...

OP, do what you need to do to get through the day. One day of crap TV here and there will not kill your DS. Hope you're better soon.

WeeCheekyBird · 26/03/2018 12:41

Knackered here with a sore head and my 9m dd has been watching the wiggles most of the morning.

We all need a break sometimes! It won't do them any harm.

Snowmagedon · 26/03/2018 12:42

Op for the goodness sake of course! This is when tv comes into its own. Surely the best thing for any of child's life is balance and variety? If he has a normal balanced day then ask few hours of tv will absolutely not affect him in the slightest!!

ItalianOne · 26/03/2018 12:43

I have many times but don't resort to tv till they re much older. Up to you , it's your baby not mine Hmm
Once again no different opinion is allowed on mumsnet

PatchworkElmer · 26/03/2018 12:46

I had a chest infection last week. We watched a LOT of TV. It’s fine. Hope you feel better soon!

CaffeineAndCrochet · 26/03/2018 12:50

Some days are crap and don't need to be cherished. Stick him in front of the TV and look after yourself.

LoopyLoo92 · 26/03/2018 12:54

Oh god anything but tellitubbies...I was about 10 when they came out first time and my sister was obsessed...she had one video she would watch over and over and drive me mad.I can still hear "tap shoes tap shoes tap shoes" and "eh oh ".... my dc were told in no uncertain terms they would never watch tellitubbies lol.

But you are ill so no one will judge for plonking in front of the TV. X x

LoopyLoo92 · 26/03/2018 12:56

Sorry...someone did judge. Ignore them your child is not going to fall behind in anything from watching TV for one day.

Makingworkwork · 26/03/2018 12:57

Have you tried putting him in front of the news. An adult talking directly to him, what is not to like. My DD loves the news when she was tiny.

Happymummy1991 · 26/03/2018 13:04

Oh god YANBU!
I'm 38 weeks pregnant, knackered and uncomfortable. We've been having quite a few sofa/tv days lately. And my dc's speech has not suffered for it Grin

Bundlesmads · 26/03/2018 13:50

YABU. Twirly Woos are superior.

LeeroyJenkins · 26/03/2018 13:59

Hey Duggee. It's brilliant.

Plonk while you can, DS is 16 months and very mobile and had been hanging off my leg whining loudly all day. My nerves are jangling already as he didn't go to sleep till 2am and then kicked me in the face for most of the night.

Hope you're feeling better soon.
