Sorry to post in aibu but I was hoping to find a few people who had used these boxes!

How big are they?
How long can baby stay in them for?
Are they any good?
Is there any kind of stand you can use with them?

Thanks!

Here is the link for the one I'm thinking about;

It's full of Johnson's, which I wouldn't use. Im seriously considering this one for forthcoming DD though www.finnishbabybox.com/uk/en?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkpfTzYaH2gIVJbXtCh1ajwlUEAAYAiAAEgI7SPD_BwE

Must change username... We got one as a gift from the original company in Finland and it was the best gift we got, bar none. Clothes amazing, bedding gorgeous, so much stuff in it that opening that beautiful box (which we still have and use to play in) is one of my favourite pregnant memories.

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 25/03/2018 09:33

I wouldn’t bother- it’s just a box. Get a Moses basket

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 25/03/2018 09:35

Although- I’m not sure I’d consider 3 bottles “full of Johnson’s” Wink

ThisMumActuallyRuns · 25/03/2018 09:36

Name changed from number above. Admittedly we didn’t use it for DD to sleep in, but the clothes lasted over a year and we’re still using the bedding that came with it and she’s nearly 2.

ThisMumActuallyRuns · 25/03/2018 09:37

www.finnishbabybox.com is the site we found ours on.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 25/03/2018 09:38

How much??? I love the moomin one though.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 25/03/2018 09:40

I desperately want the Moomin one but unless someone is buying it for us as a wedding present (I haven’t even asked because I think it’s outrageously expensive!) it definitely isn’t happening!!

Flatwhite32 · 25/03/2018 09:41

I'm due in July and got a free one through Baby Box University. Bit of a naff name, but you have to watch videos, then answer questions at the end. It's nowhere near as fancy as the Finnish one, and isn't filled with much at all, but it was free, and it looks nice. I'm pleased with it. If baby doesn't like it, we'll use it as a storage box (which is what it's currently being used for!).

ProseccoPoppy · 25/03/2018 09:45

I also got a free one through the Baby Box University www.babyboxuniversity.com/home - we have a crib for upstairs but intend to use it as a day bed for DC2 to nap in downstairs. FYI postage (which is all you have to pay for) comes up in dollars. Mine arrived really fast and is nice.

ThisMumActuallyRuns · 25/03/2018 09:46

Agree not cheap (was a gift) but the amount of clothes (and the quality) was fantastic.

BarryTheKestrel · 25/03/2018 09:59

I've always wanted one but never had the money to buy one.

Those of you who have done baby box university, what comes in the box? Or is it just the box?

ReinettePompadour · 25/03/2018 10:07

Theyre very expensive for what you get Shock

If you are happy to just be sent a box of random clothes and you genuinely have no preference how you dress your child then I'd say theyre ok albeit hugely overpriced. (A pack of 5 babygrows in the supermarket is around £10)

I wouldnt use the box myself. A box on the floor just doesn't appeal to me especially all that bending down to pick up and put down baby basically off the floor. Plus I have pets and they would definitely be eyeing up a box on the floor for their own personal use.

It looks like most clothes are actually babygrows. I only used babygrows for bedtimes as I liked dresses and dungarees for my children during the day. I also like to choose clothing myself so a box of random clothing I couldnt choose myself would not be something I would consider.

Ceecee18 · 25/03/2018 10:08

My one from the baby box university had the box and mattress, along with a bib, pair of socks, pair of scratch mitts, a drawstring bag, some pampers nappies and I think a few travel sized johnsons products. Oh, and a weird shaped hat which would never fit on a baby's head. We never used the box to put DD in as we just used a carrycot instead, but it has come in pretty handy for storage of her toys as it's quite sturdy.

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 25/03/2018 10:10

Yes I don’t actually see the point in putting your baby to sleep in a box, assuming you can afford proper sleeping accommodation

ReinettePompadour · 25/03/2018 10:14

some pampers nappies

This I disagree with. They should give washable nappies especially as every babybox company going jumps on the 'Scandinavian eco living' bandwagon.

VeganCatLover · 25/03/2018 10:19

Oh my goodness that moomin box is amazing! It's a good job I'm not having anymore children as I would buy it on impulse. Can see the box itself being an issue if you have cats, my ragdoll boy cat is the size of a jack Russell and weighs 30lb and will attempt to sleep in a shoe box Grin

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 25/03/2018 10:20

Reinette I agree. But on the plus side, as we’re planning to use cloth from as early as possible, if I can accrue enough freebies to get us through the first couple of days of meconium I’ll be delighted to not have to buy a pack of disposables!

ProseccoPoppy · 25/03/2018 10:20

My freebie baby box university one had the box (which is surprisingly heavy as it has a solid board across the whole base), a mattress, fitted sheet, a babygro, socks, scratch mitts, a stretchy hat and two muslin cloth/light blanket type things (one plain, one with a nice animal print) plus a small zip up bag.

FancyNewBeesly · 25/03/2018 10:23

You cannot compare the quality of scandi baby clothes to stuff from the supermarket. They are expensive but the quality is amazing and unlike stuff from Next you can actually sell them on when you’re done. If I’d had one I would have bought one but couldn’t afford two with twins!

Besides I much prefer buying fancy scandi clothes now they’re toddlers and less likely to throw up or poo all over them.

Aw12345 · 25/03/2018 10:25

I think for what you get they're shockingly overpriced! Unbelievable price for a box with some baby clothes in!!

Aw12345 · 25/03/2018 10:27

@ReinettePompadour totally agree about the reusable nappy thing! Sheis be reusable for sure!

Daffydil · 25/03/2018 10:44

The UK ones are purely a marketing tool. Full of advertising. And I think to get one you have to a quiz and say cosleeping is dangerous (?)

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 25/03/2018 10:52

We've got a free baby box university one. The box itself is nice and the mattress good quality. I only got a sheet with it, no other bits I can think of. Think it depends on which area you're in. We will use it for naps downstairs in as the Moses basket took up way too much space. Also going camping when DC will be 2 months so think it would be good for them. Much sturdier base compared to Moses basket. The box itself has a cute rocket design on it and could be used as a toy box later on. I'm currently using it to store all the washed newborn clothes in.

I wouldn't have bought one, and don't see it being useful for sleeping beyond 3 months. But it's nice to have for free (or about a fiver postage)

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 25/03/2018 10:52

Scandinavia is an entire region. It has all sorts of quality baby clothes available Hmm

Honestly the “scandi” trend is cringy
