I just found this in my lounge. It's very dead. What is it?

Yes it's a newt. Poor little poppet. It's that time of year when they wake up but are still pretty dopey. My guess is your cat brought it in. We have had toads inside a couple of times though just from opening the back door for the dog.

Toads have the most beautiful brown eyes, really beautiful. It's very funny!

Looks like a newt, our vegetable patch is full of them. Cute little things.

Desiccated newt, I used to find shrivelled up newts, frogs and toads all over when we had a house with a small lake in the garden.

I saved them all on a shelf and they were eaten by mice!

Here's a couple of toads at it on our doorstep being watched by a randy newt.

For years We have had a mummified frog kicking around the kitchen. I dig it (but poor froggo).

We don't have a cat 🤔
We have allotments behind our house and a few of those have little ponds so he's probably come from there. He has clambered up a step and made it in unnoticed somehow.

Newts are really good at playing dead and can appear quite dry, put it in water and see if it comes to life.
