to bring this up with hair dresser?

hi all

bride to be here, getting married this year.

my make up artist recommended a hair stylist for myself and my bridesmaids for the day. ive had the trial with her and shes lovely and i was happy with what she did.

our venue is about an hour away from where we live and the hairdresser said she's happy to travel.

the only problem is she said she will be charging £75 for travel costs.

i have looked online at estimated fuel costs and it's coming up at £20. to drive there. i asked if she was driving or getting the train and she said driving.

her other charges for myself and the bridesmaids are reasonable and like i said, she's really nice and i love how she did my hair.

i just feel that £75 for travel is extortionate and don't know whether i should talk to her about this? i understand its up to her to set the prices but would you be happy to pay this?

i dont really have time to look at more local hair stylists either.

Seems reasonable, she is travelling there AND back, plus it'll be two hours round trip journey for her so that's her time also.

She will be factoring in:

Time it takes to travel: 2 hours
Fuel: £20 is this one way or return?
Share of insurance
Wear and tear

At the end of the day she's given you a cost for a service its not up to you to break it down and confront her with that putting her on the spot. If you want to try and negotiate that's up to you but I wouldn't say "fuel is only £20" you'll sound foolish. Shouldn't she be charging for her time in your opinion?

She should be charging her hourly rate for the time it takes her to travel, plus 45p per mile.
