To think DP could pay for my pregnancy cravings.

Been pregnancy sick all day. DP got in from work and I kindly asked him if he would mind getting me a bag of M&Ms from Asda. He agreed, then asked for my credit card. AIBU to think he is stingy af?

OP posts:
sparklepops123 · 21/03/2018 18:25

No I wouldn’t let him pay for the choc !! I’d let him pay for the much needed maternity clothes that I really need ie : tmrw , add in some luxury fluffy socks etc

AverageSnowflake · 21/03/2018 18:25

Shock your DP is a douchebag!

Daifuku9 · 21/03/2018 18:26

Good Lord, was he joking? No, you’re not wrong to think he could pay for your sweets.

YellowMakesMeSmile · 21/03/2018 18:26

Its weird he would ask for your card unless you have separate finances but just as selfish to be home and then expect him to go back out after finishing work rather than going yourself.

JeNeBaguetteRien · 21/03/2018 18:26

JoJo :)

OP ywbu to tolerate this behaviour!

Viviennemary · 21/03/2018 18:26

Well they were for you and if you have this separate finances arrangement that's the way it is.

ImNotWhoYouThinkIAmOhNo · 21/03/2018 18:30

Em, am I missing something here: is giving him your credit card within the terms of the agreement with your card provider? I assume he'd pay using tap 'n' pay or whatever (contactless) and that he doesn't know your PIN.

fruitbrewhaha · 21/03/2018 18:30

Why are you having a baby with this charmer?

Cosmiccowgirl84 · 21/03/2018 18:36

Oh wow!

My DH has gladly let me buy stuff I need for pregnancy on our joint account, including maternity jeans, new bikini for holiday as my normal one is too small now, parking when I’m too tired or sick to walk etc

TeenTimesTwo · 21/03/2018 18:36

OP. You need to sort out now how finances will work whilst you are on maternity leave and going forward. (Hint: You do not use up all your savings continuing to pay for 'your half'). (Second hint: If not married do not give up work.)

AmethystRaven · 21/03/2018 18:36

Maybe OP meant debit card? I think it's mean either way. Next time he asks you to pick something up, say you need cash upfront.

I used to work with a married couple who would go into the other's department and ask for very specific amounts they owed, say he had paid for a magazine and some chocolate her he'd come and ask for it. Even weirder they'd write cheques for each other! I'd think 'bloody hell, can you not just let £3.82 go?!'

Wanderlusting99 · 21/03/2018 18:42

In a years time I really hope you're not back here posting to ask if it's unreasonable that he's never bought a pack of nappies or clothes or anything for the baby, because as he's told you, you grew it and pushed it out, your responsibility. Honestly this is the tightest thing I've read on here.

Cupoteap · 21/03/2018 19:03

LTB

ItsNachoCheese · 21/03/2018 19:05

Jesus thats beyond tight what a miserable arse

Ivebeenaroundtheblock · 21/03/2018 19:18

You set the bar real low woman.
Remember this, soooo broke or financially insecure he has to put a bag of M&M’s on YOUR CREDIT.
Why did you get pregnant with this looser?

Amanduh · 21/03/2018 19:19

Theres more to this surely
If not wtf

RabbityMcRabbit · 21/03/2018 19:20

Depends if he has any money or not...

Caterpillarx1 · 21/03/2018 19:29

When I read the title I thought you were going to say you were craving a nandos followed by a Ben and Jerry’s every day. YANBU that’s incredibly stingy... unless he is too broke to afford m&ms, but I take it he’s not, as you’ve posted on here.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 21/03/2018 19:39

YANBU. He's partly responsible for the cravings in the first place. Since you are doing the hard part and carrying his baby, he can bloody well treat you and be grateful that your cravings aren't for something expensive. Might I suggest craving caviar tomorrow, OP? 😈

JustHereForThePooStories · 21/03/2018 19:42

You actually let this tight git put his penis in you?

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 21/03/2018 19:43

but just as selfish to be home and then expect him to go back out after finishing work rather than going yourself

Not when she’s been feeling sick all day.

This is a good opportunity to get your joint finances in order OP. He’s not behaving like a partner.

windchimesabotage · 21/03/2018 19:45

yeah that is incredibly tight. Unless he is in some sort of dire financial situation theres no excuse for that really.

reallyanotherone · 21/03/2018 19:52

I read it as some sort of joke- or her dh was maybe going to pick up a big shop along with the m&m’s or something?

My DH has gladly let me buy stuff I need for pregnancy on our joint account, including maternity jeans, new bikini for holiday as my normal one is too small now, parking when I’m too tired or sick to walk etc

Wow. You have a gem there. He actually lets you pay for parking, and maternity stuff? How generous. And he doesn’t begrudge you spending his money in the joint account? Bloody hell.
