10k pay rise

Started a new job 3 months ago. I love the job. Briefly. It isn't what was described as it was a start up and the director acknowledges this. It was described as admin with office manager title. In reality it's probably business manager or possibly operations manager. I've discovered the previous company paid their manager over 30k more. How would you go about asking for a minimum of 10k. AIBU to ask for that. Personally I want to ask for more.

Do you have a three month probationary period? If so - a great time to take the temperature of their appreciation of you and a chance to outline what you think the role is and the extra tasks you are taking on. Get them to formally acknowledge the actual job they now want, given their assessment of your skills and the evolving role needed. You can discuss the compensation at the same time.

No probation but we both agreed we would have a three month catch up. I know I am appreciated and I do the job very well. It's a scary time to ask for a pay rise. I have no issues with their reaction as I'm sure one will be agreed. It's an issue of how much etc

I would ask for a review of your job description as it's been 3 months and you now have a better idea of what your job role is. Explain that you like it, give examples where you have gone beyond your pay grade and politely request/insist that your job description and your pay grade reflect the work that you actually do, and that you are willing to take on more responsibilities as long as you are reviewed fairly as the company grows as you have contributed to that growth and have developed invaluable knowledge and experience.

Sorry long sentence.
