AIBU to stay in bed all day?

Bullet991 · 21/03/2018 11:23

I stupidly discharged myself from hospital last night and feel weak but alright ish.

Do you think I could just stay in bed all day, not even shower, and not see anyone?

OR do you think that it's best to get up and about?

Why would it not be ok to stay in bed all day? Hope you're better soon.

Bullet991 · 21/03/2018 11:24

I don't actually know I just feel incredibly guilty/lazy. I have so much washing to do!

Thank you

I think that sounds ideal. Do whatever you need to feel better. I’m going back to bed soon myself.

MoistCantaloupe · 21/03/2018 11:26

Course. Stay in bed. Don't feel guilty, no reason to. Even if you weren't ill!

KerryMucklowe · 21/03/2018 11:27

Me and my husband are in bed right now.

Him because he has a chronic illness which has flared up and me because I was at work at 5am and am going back at 3, I am also lazy and want to be cozy while I read my book.

Get well soon and stay in bed x

Bullet991 · 21/03/2018 11:29

Ah you've all convinced me to stop feeling guilty and just stay here and not care. Thank you all you lovely people and I hope you manage to have a relaxing day too!

Female conditioning. A man wouldn't feel guilty about staying in bed instead of doing the washing.

If you really want to do some washing then stick a load on when you next get up for the loo / drink / snack then go back to bed.

Why were you in hospital if you don't mind me asking? You probably shouldn't have discharged yourself, hospitals aren't known for giving beds to people that don't need them.

leighb23 · 21/03/2018 11:33

I want to stay in bed (well get back in!) and there's nothing wrong with me! Stay in bed Grin

DayKay · 21/03/2018 11:34

Definitely stay in bed. Rest is an important part of recovery.

onalongsabbatical · 21/03/2018 11:34

Did you discharge yourself against medical advice? Could you be in more danger than you think you are?
For sure stay in bed, nowt wrong with that, but please get medical help if you've actually discharged yourself prematurely or foolishly. Take care of yourself!

Bullet991 · 21/03/2018 11:43

I was stupid. I had a seizure and they wanted me to stay in, I was too scared and started to feel better so have discharged against medical advice. I'm ashamed but I'm too scared

Yes stay in bed. Guilt is a wasted emotion. Self care is more important than housework etc. Put yourself first on this one and get some rest. Hope you feel better soon

onalongsabbatical · 21/03/2018 11:55

Well, to be honest, I think you should maybe ring the hospital and see if they want you back. Worrying about the washing and whether or not to stay in bed is a displacement activity. Have you ever had a seizure before? Were they going to do some tests today, OP?

onalongsabbatical · 21/03/2018 12:46

OP, you ok? Flowers

Bullet991 · 21/03/2018 12:46

I feel ridiculous that I left. I'm crying, I regret it and I feel so stupid. I don't know what to do because I can't just show up now and I've wasted everyone's time :(

OP posts:
onalongsabbatical · 21/03/2018 13:04

Oh, honey, I'm so sorry you're feeling like this. Have you got a friend or relative to give you real life support? You absolutely can go back to the hospital, they deal with all sorts of fears that patients have and they'd rather see you again than you be on your own and have another seizure without treatment. It's so so so normal to be scared.

onalongsabbatical · 21/03/2018 13:30

OP? I'm worried about you. Keep posting if you feel up to it.

Bullet991 · 21/03/2018 13:40

Sorry I keep drifting off now and then! I really don't know what to do :( I feel really really stupid. I do thankfully have amazing parents who would take me, but I just feel like they'll think I'm being ridiculous.

I have only ever had one other seizure a few weeks ago. The problem is in the past when I've been unwell I've always been told it's panic attacks/anxiety so I think I panicked last night and left because I thought that would happen.

Thing is, they were wanting to keep me in therefore they know it wasn't a panic attack. I just feel so ridiculous. Thank you so much for talking to me you're really calming me down

OP posts:
Bullet991 · 21/03/2018 13:42

This also may sound ridiculous as it's not really a big deal at this time, but I was also concerned about not wanting to be off work much longer as I'm meant to be back there next week

onalongsabbatical · 21/03/2018 13:47

I’m pleased to be of help. You’re really not stupid, health things can be very scary. If your parents are amazing they’re not going to think you’re being ridiculous, they’re far more likely to be worried about you. Are they busy today? Did they know about yesterday?

onalongsabbatical · 21/03/2018 13:48

Not ridiculous to be worried about work, but you must put your health first.

Bullet991 · 21/03/2018 13:52

Yeah they did come with me yesterday and they wanted me to stay - today they are both working though but will be at my house as soon as they finish.

It's almost like I'm scared of being told something bad, so I just ran away from it instead? But I know what is happening isn't normal and should be treated :/ it's just scary.

OP posts:
onalongsabbatical · 21/03/2018 13:55

What time are they coming to you?
It is scary. I know. I'm glad you've got good parents.

Bullet991 · 21/03/2018 14:20

About 5 - 5.30.

I think if I will definitely go back. Thank you for talking sense into me. I can't even explain how I feel it's almost like an electric shock in the brain it's so so weird.

Thank you

OP posts:
onalongsabbatical · 21/03/2018 14:25

Good!
I'm happy to talk to you. I'm here all day at home because I'm writing, and it's easy to take five minutes off (I'm a lazy fecker, but that's another story...Grin). Electric shock in the brain sounds really horrible - I hope they can find out what's wrong with you.
