Ant drunk driving dick

Pettynotvindictive · 21/03/2018 08:07

I'm fucked off.

"Celebs" on to this morning, giving support sending best wishes and love. Fuck off.
He has an illness, yes I see that but nobody made him drink and drive.

He had access to a deadly weapon and used it, thankfully nobody got hurt. Should we support him?
Three boys near me were killed by a drunk/drug driver and people are calling for a murder charge.

Just because he is famous I have to sympathise?

He knowingly put others at risk by driving.

He is dick, using his illness as an excuse.

Didn't they say that he was over the limit from the night before? Or have i made that up.

Most people i know don't hesitate to drive the morning after drinking the night before, it's wrong but i bet many don't even think about it! Doesn't make it right though.

I dont drink because i like having my driving licence

Inthedeepdarkwinter · 21/03/2018 09:08

Fluffyears that's so sad. I'm not sorry drink driving is now a social taboo. Even if people feel privately sorry for Ant, there shouldn't be public declarations at this point by celebs, it's absolutely wrong in every way.

He's been lucky, your friends weren't:(

KrisMulready · 21/03/2018 09:08

I think these threads are horrible actually.

I think these threads serve a useful purpose as they are basically cunt-magnets.

Theresasmayshoes11 · 21/03/2018 09:12

You can hate what he did without hating him or being gleeful about it. Sneering at ‘national treasure’

You can tell the really horrible people on these threads

Ihatemyclients · 21/03/2018 09:15

I feel desperately sorry for him as he is obviously very unwell and in desperate need of help. However, I don't think he should get any special treatment because he's famous. If a regular person would face prosecution and prison, so should he. He did a terrible, terrible thing and it's just lucky no one was hurt or killed. That has to be taken seriously.

Theresasmayshoes11 · 21/03/2018 09:17

He will be prosecuted if he’s broken the law! Why wouldn’t he be.

Trampire · 21/03/2018 09:18

The way people are so gleeful about this in their tone is really horrible to see.

On the (numerous) other threads about thus People have said "He thinks he's untouchable and above the law" where has he says this?

"That he should go to prison for this but he won't because he's famous" I really don't think that 'normal' people go to prison for a first drink driving offence that caused no serious injury, and we don't even know how far over the limit he was (or even if he was!).
Like pp have said, he's not the first celeb to get caught over the limit. It will be a fine and a ban probably. He'll take a year off and come back. Yes, it's very wrong to drink and drive but I'm sure he'll reflect on that in due course.

I don't understand the literal rubbing of hands in delight at this.

Buster72 · 21/03/2018 09:19

You don't get charged for failing a roadside breath test. You have to provide two samples back at custody the lowest of which exceeds the maximum.
If it falls within a certain range then blood or urine samples can be taken.
As he has not yet been charged we have a ways to go yet.

hereyougosuckmyassforensics · 21/03/2018 09:22

Drink driving is the lowest of the low regardless of who you are. Whether I dislike him or not is irrelevant.

SlothMama · 21/03/2018 09:23

YANBU There should be more of a stigma attached to drinking driving, he should be ignored and have no sympathy. Fair enough he's in rehab but he could have killed someone.

But seriously how many threads does this story need to have? Stop giving him attention.

Andrewofgg · 21/03/2018 09:33

Buster72 The blood/urine option was abolished in 2015. If your lower blow is over the limit, that’s it.

Looneytune253 · 21/03/2018 09:34

Have we actually found out how much he was over the limit though. The rumour mill has said 2x over and also 0.1 over. I do think that will make a difference to whether there is any sympathy at all. Drink driving is unacceptable full stop. But someone that has addictions and mental health problems being 0.1 over could be a lapse in judgment. Please don’t think I’m condoning drunk driving at all but before he’s completely witch hunted we should know the facts.

LucilleBluth · 21/03/2018 09:43

The reason we have laws around driving, drinking...the reason we have insurance, courts, lawyers etc is because HUMANS ARE FALLIBLE. He has fucked up big time, he's not the first and he won't be the last. He didn't kill anyone, thank god. He is going through a divorce in the public eye, he obviously has an issue with having to appear squeaky clean all the time.

I said it on another thread but A&D are working class done good and some people can't stand that. Someone called their audience 'underclass', lots of people calling them talentless. There is a definite undercurrent of class snobbery around their success and glee at Ants downfall.

Pettynotvindictive · 21/03/2018 09:59

My post was actually supposed to be criticising the other celebs not him.
Leaving the awards do last night, people were sending love and support. That is what upset me.
Just want one to say "we all make mistakes but you made a choice to endanger others and hurt a child, you are a bellend"

OP posts:
Trampire · 21/03/2018 10:00

Totally agree Lucille

Trampire · 21/03/2018 10:01

The child was not hurt. Thank heavens for that, and he could've but don't say he hurt a child, because he didn't.

Pettynotvindictive · 21/03/2018 10:06

Okay.

Because of his actions a child was taken to hospital on the safe side.
Is that better?

OP posts:
Trampire · 21/03/2018 10:12

No need to be sarky - yes child was taken to hospital as a precaution but was unhurt. That's the report. Stick to facts.

TheFaerieQueene · 21/03/2018 10:19

I haven’t ever seen this person on television, but have seen the press coverage of the case. If he is guilty of drunk driving or any other driving offence he should be punished appropriately. If would be appalling if he was shown any leniency because he has a public persona.
Personally, I think the penalties for driving offences are too lenient. How many more people need to die at the hands of a drunk driver/someone on their phone, before our politicians do something?

TheVanguardSix · 21/03/2018 10:27

Maybe this is the wake up call he really needs to sort out his addiction. It IS sad. I feel sorry for everyone around him affected by his alcoholism/addiction. I do feel sorry for him. His life is coming undone and that sucks for all sorts of reasons. If he weren't 'Ant', I'd still feel sorry for him. No one wants to see a nice person fall apart and succumb to finding their solutions at the bottom of a bottle. I'm not excusing his drink driving. He is not above the law on this one.
His mum is enabling him, not helping him, it seems. Shame on her for not taking away the keys and calling a cab for them both.

IanRushesInadequateFlushes · 21/03/2018 10:28

Even if the alcohol test comes back crystal clear, he still CHOSE to drive like a maniac around a corner in a built up residential area where little kids and dogs walk and babies are pushed across the street all the time. Only a selfish muppet does that.

Are people really saying his behaviour would be ok if it turns out he wasn't drunk? Confused Because I really really don't get that.

Pettynotvindictive · 21/03/2018 12:17

I agree with you Ian.

OP posts:
inamechangedforthispost · 21/03/2018 12:29

He has not been charged. Roadside tests are not calibrated hence you can only be arrested on suspicion of.

If he was over the limit he will be charged, his status as a famous person will not make a jot of difference. No lawyer can make a charge go away.

The amount of condemning and judging based on what is written in tabloid newspapers is astounding.

If he was drink driving or driving recklessly then he should and will be charged.

Until then I think judgement should be reserved.

Theresasmayshoes11 · 21/03/2018 12:35

Pretty

Your opening words as in dick are pretty horrible though arnt they?

Bring gleeful about another persons terrible actions is pretty low. And regards the celebrities who are sending their support why wouldn’t they? They are friends!

If my friend was caught drink driving I would utterly condemn the action but still support them as a friend. Wouldn’t you?

Nikephorus · 21/03/2018 14:32

His mum is his mum, not a gladiatorial body guard and general moral arbiter for him.
Yes but surely if it's obvious that someone you care about is still drunk, you don't let them drive? Regardless of what they might do to other people, they can still kill themselves. Don't you just take the keys off them & drive yourself or insist on a taxi?
