Local golf club. Take out a mortgage first.

LIZS · 20/03/2018 16:30

Can he really not just wear standard chino style ones , just non denim and not tracksuit bottoms

DoryDingDong · 20/03/2018 16:51

Golf club limited junior stock, non husbands size and chinos that fit him are like hens teeth. He lives in joggers, and all hail the wonderful jogger Grin

Try American Golf and Online Golf. If not, some black/Grey/navy school type trousers are fine. Just avoid denim, anything with studs and multi pocket cargo pant type things.

LIZS · 20/03/2018 16:56

Decathlon?

Allthebestnamesareused · 20/03/2018 16:59

My son has played for since he was 7 now 16. He has always just worn regular chinos - available very cheaply in Tescos etc

BrownTurkey · 20/03/2018 17:01

I was going to say try decathlon

Sports direct sell junior golf clothes at a decent price.

American Golf are generally pretty good as well.

Golf clothes are strange, A lot of stuff is very expensive (it is weather resistent quite often), but if you can get to a local American golf or have the right type of club / driving range nearby you can often pick up some steals from previous years stock.

When I say “the right club” it’s hard to define. Some golf club stores at members clubs are just silly money, either wealthy clientele or captive audience who has left his shoes at home and will pay 50% over online price.

Other places (there’s a pay and play with a big shop near me) are great value and will have a wide range of brands and price points

Yogagirl123 · 20/03/2018 17:03

I usually buy my sons on Adidas online.

WeirdCatLady · 20/03/2018 17:12

My dh is a golfer and recommends a mooch in sports direct ⛳️

LeMesmer · 20/03/2018 17:14

Ordinary chino type trousers are fine. Having a proper golf shirt (and glove and hat obviously) is more important. There are lots online, and often the big golf shops will have a sale. He will need waterproofs, Decathalon is good for that. Not just the golf section, DS (simular size to yours) wears small mens sailing waterproofs. Decathlon tennis section also has suitable shirts sometimes.

Popfan · 20/03/2018 17:15

My son is10 - we buy him his trousers for golf from John Lewis.

NKFell · 20/03/2018 17:22

I get my son's from Decathlon, I believe they're called 'Hike'.

crazymumofthree · 20/03/2018 17:24

We have the same problem but the opposite way - buying golf trousers small enough to fit our skinny 8 year old son!

Next do great chinos and also smart shorts for summer golfing, there kids sections goes to 16 I think and they offer a range of fits. my son has a pair of each, we also managed to get a pair of Adidas trousers and under armour (these were £50 a go though!) from our local golf club. He also has various t shirts and long sleeved tops again from local golf clubs £20-£50 (for a royal Troon one!!) I would say you could probably get away with some polo tops and smarts jackets from JD Sports or similar as my son has a golf and football top from there is very similar.

DoryDingDong · 20/03/2018 17:27

I couldn’t see any junior trousers on decathlon and the sizing at sports direct is bonkers I’ve managed to order some from amazon just hope they do the job. He is so fussy with trousers, hates them too skinny hates them too baggy, waist too big, bum too tight, such a faff. Chinos just don’t seem to stretch enough Confused for him.

DoryDingDong · 20/03/2018 17:28

Yes Next waaaaay too small so I guess great for the smaller boys

My DH is an avid golfer and has been sent demented trying to find him stuff in golf shops / driving range etc. Bad enough he is needing custom fit clubs because he’s too tall for kids but too short for adults
He’s 10 ffs Hmm

OP posts:
LeMesmer · 20/03/2018 17:36

He shouldn't need custom clubs. He can buy ladies clubs. Any trousers that he feels comfortable in, as long as smart looking, will do. Decathlon isn't very good, I've found, for junior golf clothes.

RomaineCalm · 20/03/2018 17:44

DS has these for golf...

The Large Boys is age 12-13 and I find them quite generous.

DoryDingDong · 20/03/2018 18:00

They look great but only have smaller sizes in stock

Danniotley · 20/03/2018 18:15

I always got mine online. Function 18, trendygolf or golfonline. Usually there are some in the sale so don’t have to cost a fortune. Think Puma do some that are more like joggers.
