to hate underwire bras and swap to wire free

Yes, I have done the intervention and got the correct size for me... apparently. I am fortunate to be large on the cleavage side but I just hate underwired bars. I get the right size. It looks great... I spend the day sat down, being dug into by fucking underwire bras.

I have resorted to wearing a sports bra. Sad

Would being large of chesticles and wearing none wired be to my detriment?

I think you should wear what you find comfortable, dont mind about anything else:)

yoyo1234 · 20/03/2018 15:58

I was intrigued at this being on aibu. YANBU to want to wear something you find more comfortable.

cjt110 · 20/03/2018 16:05

I just dont get why, for 20 or so years I've worn a bra and most of that underwired. And now, the fucking things are taking their revenge on me and I am having to wear none wired.

After my third child I went to non wired, I am very small in the "chesticles" (stealing that one!) and find it so much more comfortable as I am quite bony in my upper body too so balconette bras always dig in. YANBU at all to want to be comfy. And they do some really sexy non wired bras now too.

BluebellTheDonkey · 20/03/2018 16:12

I hear you OP. Made the same decision myself a couple of years ago. Just fed up of wires digging into me. Had done bra intervention like you so I knew I was wearing the correct size, they just felt so uncomfortable.
I now wear M&S non wired. My boobs probable do look a bit saggy but I'm past caring. I do have a couple of wired bras for special occasions Grin

cjt110 · 20/03/2018 16:13

So I guess none wired are good for every day use? Just in the office etc?

Heyduggeerulesmylife Hmmmm off to have a look what I can spot....

Oh I wish I could!

I have 34jj boobies and they kill me everyday. Had to take my bra off at lunchtime there as I just couldn't breathe. Hiding under a big work fleece now :( but I don't think I'd find a non wired one to fit

MrsJayy · 20/03/2018 16:17

I switched to non wired recently and I am bloody comfy for the first time in years

Laiste · 20/03/2018 16:17

I'm generous of nork and have changed shape over the years.

I know i'm probably only going to say stuff you already know or have tried, but have you tried changing brand? I find these days some UW bras dig into my armpits. Ouch! This is a new phenomena and i think it's because i now tend to store a bit more fat at the side of my ribs than when i was young. 'Shallow U' shape wire bras suit me better now. Have you tried bending the bras a bit to suit your shape?

Ultimately you can wear whatever makes you comfy. Of course. So YANBU at all to bung all your wired bras in the bin :)

(If you're asking if it will make a difference to your shape to go unwired then my opinion is yes it will. Whenever a wire comes out of one of my bras i pull it right out (given up trying to sew them back in) and ask DH or one of the DDs if they can tell which boob is wireless and they always pick correctly. It's the lower and wider one. Bugger.)

This was long! Sorry.

I am 36gg, I found non wired bras my size in debenhams.
Ok they are sports bras, but I don't care enough about it, so long as no wires I am happy. £25

Post breastfeeding my E cup windsocks struggled to be comfy in most bras.Switched to the Triumph Doreen several years ago, have never looked back

UnsuspectedItem · 20/03/2018 16:21

If I wore non underwired bras I'd end up knocking people out

cjt110 · 20/03/2018 16:23

Im 38E.. But only 5ft tall so my chesticles are big in proportion to the rest of me.

I've bought Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys. OK, not the best in brands I'm sure but with the cost of them, and trying to find a comfy one, I end up spending a fortune!

The only things at the mo I can comfortably wear at work are sports bras with good high impact support. The twins sit lower etc and it must have an impact on how I look.

A rare day out with DH the other day, 15 mins in the car and I had to take my bra off because the wire was digging in so much.

PS. this is the most comfortable, and figure complimenting sports bra I've had the delight to find. I kinda luffs it

DontOpenDeadInside · 20/03/2018 16:28

I've started wearing sports bras (36f) most of the time now. Means I have a uniboob most of the time but I don't care, I'm comfortable.

GardenersDelight · 20/03/2018 16:37

I've stopped wearing under wired or lacy bras as found them so uncomfortable and the lace irritated my eczema!
I find best for shape and support are ' mastectomy' bras totally comfortable and in lots of pretty designs, I'm a 34E so not flat chested but think my menopausal boobs don't look half bad ( undressed is as whole other story!)

cjt110 · 20/03/2018 16:38

GardenersDelight You have answered a question I was wondering about - whether I could wear post surgery bras instead as they look very pretty and go up to my size - with no wires!

OP posts:
GardenersDelight · 20/03/2018 16:41

Cjt110 it was an accidental discovery after picking one up from sales rail. M&S have a good selection

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 20/03/2018 17:04

I have pretty much stopped wearing bras altogether unless I'm at work, in which case I wear a none-wired bralette or sports bra. Although admittedly I'm not as blessed in the baps department as some of you ladies (34C) so probably not an option for everyone. Can't stand an underwired bra.

SumAndSubstance · 20/03/2018 17:17

Switched to the Triumph Doreen several years ago,

Now I don't even need to google that to know that it's going to be sexy Wink.
I am in a similar position to you, OP, and would happily switch, but I struggle to find decent cotton bras of any description really, but certainly non-wired. I don't want lace any more than I want wires. I've also a couple of times had the exciting experience of having an underwire snap just as I go about my normal business and then try to worm its way into my flesh.

AbsolutelyCorking · 20/03/2018 17:21

Just wear normal underwired bras and cut the wire out. Take a second.

AbsolutelyCorking · 20/03/2018 17:21

*Takes

Domino20 · 20/03/2018 17:27

Before chucking the under wired bras out though do try making a small hole to pull the wires out. You may find the same bra feels just fine with wire removed.

laddylonglocks · 20/03/2018 18:03

I'm at home a lot as I'm SAHM so I've started pulling the wire out as it digs into me. The boobs swing loose and free! However I put it back in before I go out as support is definitely needed..

SumAndSubstance · 20/03/2018 18:16

I've pulled out wires after the aforementioned wire-snapping-chest-jabbing incidents and alas I find they don't fit at all without the wires. They don't seem to sit anywhere near my body anymore!
