Posting for traffic. Need help. Older son moving to take up job in Aylesbury and no knowledge of areas that are good to rent in. Needs to be able to have access to town easily. Anybody able to advise of areas to AVOID, or areas that are desireable?

Stayed in a lovely pub in Aston Clinton recently when I took my son up to RAF Halton to join the RAF! A lovely area 😊

I grew up in Aylesbury- this is surreal 😬Def not Bedgrove for a young man needing to live close to town/work

ConstantReminder · 19/03/2018 22:13

All useful for him to start his search

Coxhill Way has a walkway to the train & bus station I think. I may be corrected but I know I’m not far off! It’s a development of flats (Summer House & Masters House) within walking distance of town & Morrisons supermarket.

Deerhurst & The Willows ‘estates’ are nice but not walking distance of the town. They’re closer to Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

Fairford Leys is popular as it is a purpose-built development with a restaurant, Co-Op, village hall etc.

@Haphazardhacker could you deliver me some wine?!

Haphazardhacker · 20/03/2018 16:13

Certainly, just give us a call 😀

Haphazardhacker · 20/03/2018 16:15

Ah, forgot about Watermead. Lovely place too and nice environment but maybe a bit far out.

HelenaJustina · 20/03/2018 16:19

Also surreal for another old Aylesburian... I wonder how many of us ‘know’ or ‘knew’ each other!

Echo all the areas above. Fairford Leys, Watermead is nice but further out from the centre, Broughton, Turnfurlong, or the new developments in the centre of the town or near to the station.

Tbh it’s all pretty safe but some bits are definitely more ‘family home’ type areas. It’s vastly walkable if you go for any of the areas named by the previous posters (assuming fit young man) but bus routes are also improving slowly.

Nounicornshere · 20/03/2018 16:39

Watermead is about to have a Crematorium built I think?

mumofmadams · 20/03/2018 18:11

Bedgrove has RAF quarters, so they do security patrols all hours. It’s very close to the town centre, too.

NewPapaGuinea · 20/03/2018 19:07

Oldhams Meadow/Coppice side is alright. 20 minute walk to town or buses every 15 minutes.

Thank you, thank you all, these comments are so helpful

If you kind people are still willing to advise - what about Buckingham Park in terms of safe living and commuting to Aylesbury town centre without car?

It's a bit of a schlepp on foot into town.

dontticklethetoad · 26/03/2018 18:31

But it has a nice community feel. I don't live there, but know people who do.

PinkSnowAndStars · 26/03/2018 18:50

Not the greatest walk into town!

Nice enough area though

HelenaJustina · 27/03/2018 17:06

Nice enough area, but would echo the above about the walk. It’s do-able and I imagine there are buses for rainy days. What about a bike?
