For me

Best - laptop or games console

Worst - half the games for said console as many were never played and a ticket to Wembley to watch my team lose heavily.

Best...my wooden dining room table and chairs. I got them from John Lewis in the sale. It will last me forever.

Worst...heated rollers. Ain't nobody got time for that! Grin

cantstopfuckingeating · 19/03/2018 18:17

Best... would be a flip between my morphy Richards steam iron and my super king bed.

Worst... slow cooker

Neverender · 19/03/2018 18:27

Best - massive sofa with internal storage where we keep all of DD's stuff. End of the day comes and we lob it all in the sofa Smile

Worst - probably our mahoosive baby travel system thing. Total waste for 6 months use.

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 19/03/2018 18:42

Best - leather sofa off ebay for £20.

Worst - cordless dyson. Piece of shit.

Misleadorlie · 19/03/2018 18:42

former - I wouldn’t count on that! My JL dining table and chairs was purchased in 2010. Three of the four chairs have pretty much given up the ghost! I am so disappointed as it was hugely expensive and I also expected a lot more than 7 or so years’ worth of wear...

Loonoon · 19/03/2018 19:32

Best - my first Miele appliance. Worth every penny

Worst - my DH completed a very successful business deal some years ago and we got a large sum of money. Whahey! I thought, 'no more scrimping and saving for us, bye bye Ikea , hello luxury.' I bought uplighters from John Lewis that cost four times what our sturdy 20 year old Ikea lamps cost. They were a nightmare to assemble, never stood straight and the bulbs blow constantly. We also bought a new bed and bedside cupboards from Next. The bed had over 350 pieces to assemble. It was a total nightmare (and DH is the king of Ikea flatpack assembly). We eventually had to pay a local handyman and his son £80 to finish it off and they discovered several missing pieces. And as for the bedside chests. One is fine but the other falls apart if you open the drawer. After two years we have given up and ordered replacements. Not from Next or JL though. Never, ever again.

Best purchase: Our pony. We had to travel 6 hours to view him, so nearly didn’t bother. When we tried him I thought he might be too lazy for what we wanted but previous pony has frightened the life out of DS jumping so went for it, on the basis it is easier to rev them up than try and calm down a sharp one. Best decision ever. He’s done everything we’ve ever asked of him and more, all whilst keeping DS safe no matter what. He’s gone from being terribly nervous to representing his pony club at regional events. We all absolutely adore him.

Worst purchase: our new car. We’d only planned to look that day and got suckered in. Our mileage needs have changed so we’ll have done three years worth of miles 22months in and be stung by huge charges unless we buy the car at the end of the three years.

GrannyGrissle · 19/03/2018 19:48

There is a simple solution there, drunken unicorn, buy a cart?

flowerslemonade · 19/03/2018 19:52

Worst is Nike Air Max 2016 trainers.

When I got my new job I saved up £10 every few days until had £145 and I bought these trainers that I'd wanted for ages (years). They are uncomfortable and I've worn them outside about twice. I stupidly cut three slits in the back of both shoes to try to make them more comfortable so I can't even sell them on. A charity shop probably won't accept them with the slits in the back. They sit there on the floor taunting me :( such a waste of money. I wish I had that £145 right now. I should probably throw them away but I can't bring myself to :(.

DownAtFraggleRock · 19/03/2018 19:54

Best - our caravan

worst - I'll second the hand held Dyson. Literally fell to bits.

Spoog1971xx · 19/03/2018 19:59

Best- actify
It is brilliant as it makes anything crispy and lush chips.
Worst- a shared ownership flat. It's falling down/ all types of dangerous and the housing association are absolutely terrible. I've lost count at the day's raging/ crying since I coughed up such a large amount of money to live in a hovel. No fucker wants a second hand one and I can't get rid of it

LostInShoebiz · 19/03/2018 20:04

Spoog that's awful. I really feel for you.

isthistoonosy · 19/03/2018 20:06

Best - a volvo 940 (from the mid 90's I think), for £1k about 7 yrs ago, still going strong.

Worst - a fit bit that gave up the ghost in less than a yr.

BeeFarseer · 19/03/2018 20:09

Best - my cat. He cost me £25 years ago (and thousands of pounds since!) but the furry ginger git is utterly priceless.

Worst - my bike. I spent about £500 on it, rode it a few times and then realised I was too terrified of all the bad car drivers to carry on cycling. It got rusted through when our shed leaked and I chucked it. Such a waste of money.

PaddyF0dder · 19/03/2018 20:10

Best - Nissan Leaf

Worst - Vauxhall Zafira

BarryChuckle · 19/03/2018 20:10

Best - Birkenstocks, I bloody love them.

Worst - a cosatto double pushchair, it was shit, heavy, felt poorly made and my normal sized one year old grew out of it within a couple of months.

Bluelady · 19/03/2018 20:20

Best was the little black Scottish terrier who has been my husband's constant companion for the last nine years. He even goes to work with him. I bought him for his birthday.

Worst without doubt was a holiday in Corfu, the hotel was awful, it rained non stop for four of the seven days and I caught a cold on the outward flight.

flowerslemonade · 19/03/2018 20:30

aww can we see dog pic?

MaureenSowerbutts · 19/03/2018 20:33

Best - £350.00 Next sideboard for £30 from eBay, good as new.

Worse - slow cooker, I'm sure the bloody thing smirks at me when I open the cupboard, have used it once.

DerelictWreck · 19/03/2018 20:36

Isthistoonosy

Fitbit have awesome customer service - even when it's out of warrantee or without a receipt they'll usually replace it!

Bluelady · 19/03/2018 20:37

As requested. Hamish

Merryoldgoat · 19/03/2018 20:38

Best: pair of Sweaty Betty yoga pants which has a big sparkly SB on the hems - they sound vile but they were genuinely the most flattering, comfortable and versatile trousers I’ve ever owned. If I’d known I’d have bought 10 pairs.

Worst: silver pumps that were so uncomfortable my feet bled after the first and last wear. So pretty though.

Echobelly · 19/03/2018 20:40

Best buy - getting carpenter to build in a wardrobe to kids' bedroom in our last place. We ended up living in that two-bed flat for 2-3 years longer than expected due to me being made redundant, then DH losing his job a bit later once I was working again. The kids' room was small, but having that full-height wardrobe was a real life-saver.

Worst buy - not sure, Maybe this hostel we stayed in once in Tel Aviv when DD was 2. Was trying to save some money, but it was really miserable and messy and uncomfortable and there was nowhere to park, and we kept getting fined (and towed once!) b/c we didn't understand the parking rules, so my husband spent the whole time there in a rage!

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 19/03/2018 20:40

Best was the trampoline for the children. They've spent hours, days even, leaping about like drunk gazelles on it. We bought the biggest, best one we could find, sank it into the lawn and made it as safe as humanly possible (so far nobody's broken a limb) and it's made such a difference. They're on it come wind, snow or sunshine.

Worst was the NutriBullet. We just don't use it for anything and the DCs got bored of smoothies after three days.

mineofuselessinformation · 19/03/2018 20:47

Best: my car.
Worst: the windows xh (while we were still married) decided to buy from a market stall!!! Which ended up that he threatened to punch the window fitter...
