Just found d's using a large black craft feather as a pretend pen and he had been mouthing the end of it and ink had cone off into his mouth, not much but still. So I checked the pack to see if it was toxic and it said real bird feathers may cause allergies wash hands after use in the bloody packet! Am now having a massive panic attack that d's either has Ink poisoning or some bird illness 😭 I have health related OCD and am freaking out for the second time this week. Should I be wooried

No. They would not be allowed to sell it if it were dangerous, this is your anxiety talking

mirime · 17/03/2018 22:02

I wouldn't worry. If he was allergic you'd know by now and the small amount of dye won't hurt him.

I know where you're coming from though, I had a massive panic when DS got paint in his mouth. Early Learning Centre paint that was suitable for his age. Spent ages googling it for reassurance!

I was worried about there being germs with them being real bird feathers Sad I am finding things rather difficult at the minute and have been off my meds for a while. Might be time to go back on them.

The feathers are washed there won't be any bird germs left on them

No idea about the specifics of craft feathers but PeterPiper - of course companies can sell dangerous products. Lots of craft supplies are dangerous. As are lots of other types of products, you know products that are sold to actually consume

They are aimed at kids, so have to have a certain level of safety checks.
I imagine the dying process must involve washing, so they won’t be too germs, and the small amount of dye will be ok.
Sorry you are feeling so anxious, google havening technique. It really helps my anxiety in minutes.

Ohyesiam · 17/03/2018 22:40

Actually there is a good short havens no technique on you tube by Paul mackenna

Ohyesiam · 17/03/2018 22:41

Havening

CupcakesForBreakfast · 17/03/2018 23:15

Thank you Ohyesiam I will have a look into that. It's been a rough week. I feel like I no longer know what is a big deal or what I shouldn't worry about. My anxiety makes everything feel like the end of the world so I don't even know if I'm being ridiculous anymore.
