"all uniformed staff in traditional maid uniform"

Had a flyer through the door for a cleaning service. Is it just me or does this sound dodgy? Why would you care what a cleaner in your house wears?

And eat does a traditional male maid uniform look like I wonder

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 16/03/2018 19:33

Shall I call and ask

OP posts:
LuckyTwiglet · 16/03/2018 19:35

They are probably all middle-aged men who have paid good money to be "made" to do that.

StealthPolarBear · 16/03/2018 19:37

Oh I hope so. The picture is of a pretty young blonde woman, you'll be amazed to learn :o

OP posts:
pigsDOfly · 16/03/2018 19:38

What a stupid idea. Surely it would be awkward to work in.

If you want a cleaner to clean your house properly surely something practical and easy to move in would be better than some silly gimmicky uniform.

StealthPolarBear · 16/03/2018 19:39

Well you'd think

OP posts:
ScreamingValenta · 16/03/2018 19:41

Perhaps it's their idea of a USP.

If I had a cleaner, I wouldn't care what they wore as long as they were better at cleaning than I am.

ourkidmolly · 16/03/2018 19:42

Utterly weird and I'd find that extremely off putting actually. It's quite impractical too considering the joy in hand.

CherryCi · 16/03/2018 19:43

Sounds like an “escorting” agency.

Cleaning with extras. Etc.

OutyMcOutface · 16/03/2018 19:44

Very odd. I can understand the practicality of uniformed staff if you live in a large house with a lot of visitors who may otherwise get confused, so basically if you are running a hotel but why you would want a cleaner who comes round a couple of times a week in uniforms is just beyond me. I would feel a bit embarrassed of one of my friends walking into my house to see that. Ot’s Like having a uniformed nanny. A bit pretentious and unnecessary.

StealthPolarBear · 16/03/2018 19:44

Bleurgh at "joy in hand" :o

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 16/03/2018 19:45

Maybe it's for people who want to think they live in victorian times.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 16/03/2018 19:46

Ironically our cleaner picked it up from the mat and left it on the table for us. She's too honest, I'd I were her it would have gone straight in the bin :o but I'm so glad she left it for me to laugh at.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 16/03/2018 19:47

And for all I know she was wearing a wet suit or a chicken costume. I wasn't here, as are most people presumably who employ cleaners.

OP posts:
ObiJuanKenobi · 16/03/2018 19:56

Oh how grim, please phone them and find out more!

StealthPolarBear · 16/03/2018 19:58

Actually the more I read it the worse it gets.
You can have more than one 'cleaner' at a time.
All 'products' included in the price.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 16/03/2018 20:04

They can accommodate out of hours or offices 'etc'

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 16/03/2018 20:13

When I was looking for a nursery for DS there was one very traditional type that had all the staff in matching dresses with starched pinafore aprons. I didn't even bother going to look at it, purely on the basis that nursery staff would be happier and kinder to my child if they were at least wearing practical and comfortable clothes. But it was one of the first things that they mentioned in their blurb, so it must matter to some people.

Vickxy · 16/03/2018 20:19

Sounds like a bit of a perv to me. Cleaners are not there to be letched over. And I see no other reason why 'traditional maid uniform' should be worn. Comfy clothes, yes. Little skirts?! No.

I would be tempted to get my husband to go for an interview in an Ann Summers french maid outfit, tbh

Vickxy · 16/03/2018 20:20

Sorry somehow read OP as being an advert for a cleaner.

Yeah, it seems whichever company is doing this, is specifically advertising to people who do not want cleaners to be cleaners, but as someone to perv on instead. Very unsavoury IMO.

ourkidmolly · 16/03/2018 20:20

@StealthPolarBear
Joy in hand! Grin

StealthPolarBear · 16/03/2018 20:20

Well I agree nursery staff should be dressed to play and have fun but I can see the logic of a uniform for a public facing job. But surely most domestic cleaners don't actually see that many clients who they work.

OP posts:
ItLooksABitOff · 16/03/2018 20:22

WTAF @BlackAmericanNoSugar

I feel sorry for those staff

StealthPolarBear · 16/03/2018 20:23

And what would you say if he or she started turning up in jeans a few months in

OP posts:
drspouse · 16/03/2018 20:24

Maybe they are like this.
