That Public use pianos are annoying and should be removed from station?

I was waiting for an arrival at St Pancras recently and was driven mad by the "public use" piano that was there. It was 100% being "used" by French students hammering it to make as much noise as possible and laughing and the occasional toddler tapping keys.

What is the point of these anyway? Or do top solo pianists waiting for the 18.04 to kettering randomly play some Rachmaninoff?

Stations are noisy anyway without adding more!

It bugs me, central has one and occasionally they do things like ballroom dancers on the concourse....all I want in a station is to know where my train is and is it on time!

YABU .Had a delayed train the other day and it was made bearable by an immensly talented young lad playing the one in our local station. Our university is well known for its music courses so I'm guessing he was student, but definitely worth putting up with the odd but of tuneless thumping in between for a performance like that.Made my day.

I was on the tube with a man playing a didgeridoo once.
In his defence, he was actually good. And definitely not Rolf Harris.

Ive only ever heard the ones in st Pancras being played beautifully as well. It was heavenly.

I find them fun/funny when people mess around tbh, but then again I haven’t been stuck in a station long enough to be annoyed by them. I wear headphones too though so I probably wouldn’t notice either way. The same could really be said for a tantruming toddler, drunk twats on match day, tourists getting all their luggage in the way etc - when you’re delayed, potentially late and fucking annoyed anything will anger you.

I've never heard one played badly, come to think of it.
My favourite time was at Nottingham when an older gentlemen was playing 'turning tables'.

I love them! I find they lighten my mood in places that often make me quite anxious.

I have had a quick go on Elton' s piano in St Pancras - can't play so was just one of those annoying people bashing a few keys!

And St Pancras would be such a peaceful, quiet place without those pesky pianos...
