To ask what cardio I can do with damaged knees?

I've fucked my knees up. Currently in recovery but missing my gym.

What cardio can I do tomorrow that won't put pressure on my knees?

Swimming would be the obvious choice to me.

Brakebackcyclebot · 15/03/2018 21:16

Cycling? I don't know what the damage is though. Or one of those arm cardio things?

19lottie82 · 15/03/2018 21:16

If that’s not an option then the safest thing I can think of would be the rowing machine but I’m not sure it would be ideal.

SquashFeet · 15/03/2018 21:16

Yeah that's my first choice with steam room afterwards. But it doesn't seem cardio enough

Download the SWORKIT app. It’s amazing and you can swap or skip the stuff you can’t do for sth else. I had a bad ankle break last year and can’t manage some simple stuff like hopping on bad leg but gives loadsa alternatives, even for a 4stone overweight bird!

arethereanyleftatall · 15/03/2018 21:59

If swimming isn't cardio enough, then swim faster.

SaucyJack · 15/03/2018 22:00

How did you fuck your knees up? Maybe your body needs a rest for a week or so.

PhyllisWig · 15/03/2018 22:04

Let me know when you find an answer. All the recommendations still hurt me (swimming, cycling, rowing machine). Even walking hurts it.

If you want yoga, yoga with Adrienne does a bad knee routine which I quite like. But it's not cardio, obvs.

I hate bad knees. I feel fat and unfit and they hurt. Hurmphhhhhh.

LeighaJ · 15/03/2018 22:06

Elliptical machine? I have almost no cartilage in my knees and that's what I've used for years.

alligatortoss · 15/03/2018 22:06

I’d personally say do nothing. I had a bad ankle injury and it was so hard and frustrating to not get to the gym.

Better to rest it and actually recovery then rush back and make the situation worse.

LeighaJ · 15/03/2018 22:06

If it's too bad for any cardio though then you need to see a doctor or chiropractor.

vitaminC · 15/03/2018 22:07

Swimming backstroke!

imnottoofussed · 15/03/2018 22:09

Boxing. There's a good intro type YouTube video from bodyfit by Amy it's low impact lots of upper body moves

19lottie82 · 15/03/2018 22:11

Look up a swimming for fitness programme, it’s great cardio!

GummyGoddess · 15/03/2018 22:13

imnottoofussed has beaten me to it, definitely boxing! You'll be exhausted in no time and have great muscle definition on your upper body.

Raeven · 15/03/2018 22:16

Watching with interest.. I need both knees replaced and need to lose weight/exercise.. Everything hurts including swimming. Running (no pun intended) out of ideas.

iheartmichellemallon · 15/03/2018 22:20

What about a rowing machine?

ginghamstarfish · 15/03/2018 22:28

I had the same problem and bought a Pilates machine (not the actual very expensive one). I love it and as it's basically exercise lying down, it's not weight bearing. Doesn't take up much space either.
