To think Autism family Youtube channels are exploitative?

I've come across a few families on Youtube who have kids with Autism, one in particular stands out as the young girl is non-verbal and unable to give consent (FatheringAutism)

There is something about the whole thing that makes me extremely uncomfortable, being autistic myself I know I wouldn't want my every day life broadcasted online for the whole world to see, especially when I'm distressed or having a meltdown, but apparently if your kid is non-verbal and can't give consent, they are fair game.

The dad in the fatheringaautism channel seems to be using his daughter to make money and has even started selling merchandise with his channel on it.

AIBU to think this is so wrong?

There are hundreds of YouTube families out there....non of the children can give 'their' consent, autism or not!!!!

This would apply to any child who is unable to give consent.

Probably no more than any family doing videos or tv shows of young children.

I’m not a fan of anything like that personally but at the same time if it helps to raise awareness of what I can be like to raise an autistic child is it bad?

I have a non verbal child with severe autism and learning disabilities and no I wouldn't do that but then I don't post pictures much of either of my kids on Facebook, I do have a facebook friend though who has a son that attends my son's special school and she will post all sorts of stuff about her child when hes kicking off etc , hes 11 now and all her facebook friends know hes going through puberty etc it does make me feel uncomfortable tbh .

I wouldn't share anything on Facebook that I wouldn't be happy with shared about myself.
I think it becomes a learning disability 'issue' when children get to the age at which an NT child could begin to object.
