What sort of place do you like? Modern gastro; intimate bistro style?

carryondoctor · 14/03/2018 10:44

I've always liked it here, but it can get busy esp on a warm evening, so depends what night you are going!

Go for dinner to Roxie, best steak ever.

PutneyPutneyPutney · 14/03/2018 10:49

Thanks I got taken to Roxie on a recent date and am not really seeing the guy anymore 😂 But it was delicious so great recommendation!

Blimey, The Dukes Head is a lot posher than it was in the seventies when I frequented it! Grin

Going on Sunday btw - please keep the suggestions coming, they look great!

The Coat and Badge is nice

carryondoctor · 14/03/2018 10:58

Gilead - oh aye, it was in the Sunday Times as a choice weekend pub a couple of years ago and everything!!

MulderitsmeX · 14/03/2018 11:25

The Prince of Wales by East Putney tube is v nice.
Coat and Badge good for a casual drink- NB on a friday and saturday it will be v busy.

The Half Moon is fab too, either food or drinks.

If it turns into a big night you can go to Tequila Mockingbird for cocktails later - I really like it there.

I'm not a huge fan of the dukes head/star and garter tbh. There's also a youngs pub on the river by the bridge which has great views but I don't really go there that often as it has a big chain feel (obviously!!)

PeterPiperPickedSeaShells · 14/03/2018 12:54

I much prefer Toy Shop to Tequilla Mockingbird for cocktails

Gilead · 14/03/2018 14:16

Feeling older by the minute, used to sing in The Half Moon!

Is the Youngs pub The Castle? It used to be. Saturday lunchtime, sat on the wall, bag of crisps, fizzy orange with a cherry on a plastic sword and a paper umbrella whilst my Grandparents had a swift G&T!
Yep, I really am old and a long way from home!

sarcasmisnotthelowestformofwit · 14/03/2018 14:23

I second Coat and Badge.

CheeseEMouse · 14/03/2018 14:29

The Jolly Gardners on Lacy Road is good imo.

AllisLost · 14/03/2018 14:34

Always liked the Half Moon and saw some bands there a Very Long Time ago. Last time I went it was nice.

Avebury · 14/03/2018 14:35

Home on Upper Richmond Road
Jolly Gardeners for a traditional pub feel
Hudsons on Lower Richmond Road - will be busy on a Sunday though

AmberNectarine · 14/03/2018 19:42

Coat and Badge good. The Normanby on Putney Bridge Road is cosy too. The Boathouse just off PBR has river views.

Further up the High St, you've got Lost & Co, which is quite cool and you can hold a conversation.

Spotted horse used to have a cracking pub quiz on Sundays but no idea if that's still in situ.
