Holiday

Waiting a diagnostic laparoscopy for suspected endometriosis. The appointment has come through for earlier than expected, 8 month instead of 12 month wait.

Issue is I have a holiday to Vegas booked for 4 days after. AIBU to think I will be able to go on holiday? Some people are saying I'll be fine, while others are saying not a chance.

I'm also afraid and knowing my luck, if I cancel the holiday that the surgery will be cancelled.

I really don't think you will be able to get additional insurance for travel so soon after surgery that will cover you for any complications that arise.
Have you spoken to your insurance provided to check you have cover (usd 500,000) if you do travel?

Hi OP i've had 2.
the first one they found some endo and while they were there they lasered it away. I did bleed quite heavily for almost a week ( clotting etc ) , so that might be something to consider. I was also on co codamol so would not have been able to drink- there was also some kind of rule about going swimming due to infection as I recall.

the second one was not as bad although i felt drowsy and sore for days , i don't think a long haul flight would have been very enjoyable ( they are not at the best of times - unless you are in business class ! ) . I had a very bloated tummy and sore shoulder and could not have struggled with luggage .

unless you are literally on your knees with your endometriosis I would reschedule the surgery

I would say it all depends on how urgently you need the laparoscopy. If it is something that can wait I would ask for a later date and go to Vegas.

I was fine but my stomach muscles took a big hit and I felt like I'd done a hundred sit ups for several days after.

it will be easier to change the surgery than the holiday i suspect, although of course neither is ideal

ring your insurers before you do anything.
find out if you will be covered to travel, what proof they will need. find out if you are covered for cancellation and how much the excess is.
then you can decide.

I would try to change the surgery date. I have had 2 and was out of action for quite a while, there is no way I could have traveled. You want to plan for being able to take it easy after surgery if you feel the need.
