Credit card details will have to be given to access porn sites soon

Do you think this is a good idea? Apparently 30% of porn users don’t have a credit card (probably a high % of them will be teenagers).
I sometimes watch porn myself but do think it will be a good thing to stop younger people being able to access it so readily on their phones and laptops.

Age verification is a terrible idea. For many reasons, including the risks of data mining and poor security. But, mercifully, someone's had the sense to put the brakes on for the moment.

What young people need is good, thorough, responsible, well-delivered SRE. Porn is not great sex education, but the answer is to provide great sex education.

I would imagine many porn sites are run by criminals. Not the sort of people I would want to give credit card details to. They might not get away with outright stealing of money, as the credit card company might refund you, but I'd imagine the potential for blackmail is rather high.

And I am not putting my card details into a porn site. I think they are vastly underestimating the amount/demograph of porn watchers

What else are they supposed to do to stop kids accessing porn? I think it's a good idea, you should have to prove you are an adult before watching it.

An idiotic, authoritarian idea, dreamt up by people who don't understand technology or modern society. Firstly, they have no way of fining foreign porn sites. Secondly, I'd be surprised if there are any teenagers who aren't fully familiar with VPNs. The only people who will be hit by this law are the utterly IT illiterate. Once this pushes 90% of web users to browse via VPNs (making Government scrutiny harder, and further reducing advertising profitability), we'll no doubt get further hand-wringing from an out-of-touch establishment.
