After a really lovely day out yesterday that included a 6 mile walk we got home at 7.00pm dirty and tired and thought that pizza was a good idea, so while I shower myself and DS2 DP and DH1 order pizza on line. Pizza is ordered by 7.15 and at 7.30 we get a call to say they do not have one of the toppings we wanted so we say ok we will have xx instead.
So we wait, and wait and wait, by 8.15 DS2 is asking "where is dinner" due to the fact take out pizza is a treat for him he is looking forward to it.
8.30 still no pizza but a phone call to say we have none of the ice cream you ordered will you have xx, so we say yes how long will you be? 10 mins they say so we get the plates and we wait , and wait and wait 9.00 I ring back and ask "where is my pizza" 5 mins they say. So I hope am getting a discount I say , so I am told I will get a £5 discount, oh big whoop.
Anyway 9.15 my rather cold pizzas arrive and the bloke drives off and we open the boxes to find the wrong size pizzas with the wrong toppings.
So I stick my coat over my PJs get in the car with DH1 take the pizzas back to pizza hut [a whole 5 mins away should have gone there to order them in the first place] ask for the manager who is bloody gormless and all he says is oh but we have two people off sick, to which my response was "I am not your mother, your social worker or your shrink I don't bloody care" I get my money back and storm out.
I then still have to sort out dinner.
I am going to write to the head office, AIBU?

my children think it is nivarna thanks to attending a party yhre with that crappy ice cream factory thing which i hate. Ds 2 wanted for his birthday to go there for a 'meal' with his 3 best mates, which i let him...never again. overpriced crap! And we had to wait ages which bumped up the drinks bill no end

paulaplumpbottom · 07/05/2007 10:24

You are lucky you got a refund, this happened to us several years ago with Pizza Hut and the manager said it was not their problem that I should have checked the pizzas before the delivery guy left

suzywong · 07/05/2007 10:24

steady now moondog

anorak · 07/05/2007 10:24

May I add that kimi's DH is my cousin so I can safely tell you from one that know that no marriage breakdown would stop him from partaking in a pizza

kimi · 07/05/2007 10:24

Anorak, I did put my bra on, as you know me I guess you can see it all in your head really well
I know I should have made dinner but I was being a lazy cow.
Do thing he was a bit taken aback with the "i am not your mother, social worker or shrink" comment though

anorak · 07/05/2007 10:26

That'd give him a new idea for pizza toppings anyway

kimi · 07/05/2007 10:28

Paula, no man in his right mind was going to say no to a deranged hungry woman in her PJs.

I am not one to be messed with.... not when I am hungry

Keep some frozen pizzas in the freezer. Probably about 25% of the price and a lot less bother.

kimi · 07/05/2007 11:16

We don't make a habit of having loads of pizza, it was just that we were all knackered and wanted something quick!!!

Yes write to the head office. I have written two complaints to them on two different occaisions. The first was when i waited a long time for takeaway pizza (it was a collection) and when i finally got it it was all shriveled up and cold. So i took it back and they gave me another one. It turns out that the pizza WAS ready when i got there but it had just been left on the side for 15 mins until someone noticed me waiting and noticed the pizza sitting there. I was sent £2o in vouchers.

The second one was when me and my dp went to eat in the resturant. I won't go into detail but the whole experience was dreadful so i wrote to head office and complained. Again they sent me vouchers but my dp was not satified by this cause he said they have just fobbed us off with vouchers and not really done anything to solve the problem. So he phoned the head office and spoke to the person who was in charge of the resturant we went to. He said if we use our vouchers there again he assures us we will be satified. So we left it a month or so to go back and when we did the whole place had been re-decorated with new seating and new staff. Now i doubt this was all OUR doing by complaining but i think our complaint helped as no other pizza hut in our area has been re-done.

kimi · 07/05/2007 11:40

Thank you iceing, I will be sending them a letter in tomorrows post.

I think to many people do not complain and standards slip.

DS2 was quite upset not to get the pizza he was promised (he is 6 and his big brother is away with my mum this weekend so DS2 was looking forward to a treat too)

I just hate bad service, especially the prices pizza hut charge. At that price i expect excellent service and good quality food.

kimi · 07/05/2007 11:46

I went to a weatherspoons once and it was disgusting, I wrote a letter to complain and I got a £20 voucher.

I know sometimes there are staff problems and such but you would think after a 2 hour wait that they could have at least got the right pizzas to us.
Its pizza not rocket sicence

My dp has a bakery and he does deliverys of cakes and hot savouries to offices. His shop is quite famous in some Bournemouth offices for being good. Sometimes he makes mistakes with deliverys and he always makes sure that he corrects the mistakes by giving extra or discount AND a big appoligy to the customer because he cares about his customers getting a good service. These big chain stores seem to think they can get away with bad service etc just because they are big companies.

dmo · 07/05/2007 17:02

we went to pizza hut one sunday at 5pm took us 15 mins to drive there got out of car went into pizza hut sat down ordered drinks and decided on a pizza topping
girl came out 25mins later saying that she was very sorry but we couldnt have any pizza as they had run out of tomato sauce base stuff (wtf no pizza in pizza hut) so dh stood up and said if you think were paying for the drinks your mistaken and walked out with us following

nailpolish · 07/05/2007 17:05
