Big age gaps between children?

Hi there, DD is 10 this year, and will probably/hopefully be blessed with a sibling at some point in the next 5 years. Obviously I am slightly worried about the gap.

Does anyone have a large gap between their children? DD is also autistic.

16 and 18 years between me and my brother and sister, respectively.

Was like an only child growing up but was an auntie at 12 and have a wonderful connection to brother sister and my nieces and nephew.

I have a ds, 12 years older and a dd, 10 years older than my youngest DD who has just turned 11. They have always been very close, they adore her and have a wonderful relationship.

I did worry at first as dc 1 and 2 are close in age and then I have 17 year old b/g DTs who have always been close, in fact all four older ones get on very well (most of the time), five year gap between ds1 and ds2 but they are close too. I though with this dynamic perhaps they wouldn’t be keen on a much younger sibling but it’s really been lovely. Very lucky.

My dsis is 7 years older and we get on really well. Go on holidays together, bbqs, meals etc.
We never fell out as kids or adults. She met her DH young when I was a kid and he's been like a big brother to me. I also had a lot of lovely times with her DC which gave me a bit of an insight into raising DC before having my own.

5 years between mine, 2 boys. I found it quite a difficult age gap as never found anything that they could do together, school holidays were hard - they've only really got better now as eldest is now 14 and is happy to stay at home if I'm doing something more childish with the 9 year old, so the dynamic has now changed.

They do love annoy each other though, and DS1 is particularly protective of his little annoying brother Grin

Yes, 20+ years gap here between eldest and youngest DC. didn't plan to start so soon or finish so late to be fair

I was 10 when my sister was born (my brother was 8 🙈) and I remember lying in bed crying when he came in to tell me she was born 🙈.

Having such a big gap between us was also pretty annoying as my mum started working at night time and I was never allowed to go to any after school clubs as I had to look after my sister whilst my daddy dropped my Mummy to work 😡

I'm coming 28 now and she is coming 18 and we are close but only in a weird way where she keeps me young 😂 (I will feel like a teenager) she's also good for babysitting my daughter 😂😂

I have an 8 year gap between my two, they're 5 & 13. So far they have been very close, I expect my eldest to drift towards her friends more in the next few years but hope they find friendship as adult siblings.
My sisters and I are 43/33/32 and we are all now close as adults. It honestly isn't about age gaps just personality and general family dynamics.
My husband is close to his siblings too with 15m and 3.8 yr gap between eldest and youngest.
my best friend and her siblings have 2 years between eldest and middle then middle and youngest and are NOT close

14 year age gap between me and my youngest sibling.
I love him dearly it is nice to be the generous eldest with cinema trips and lunch out. We are fairly close but i have another sibling with only 2 year difference and we are definitely closer.

Wow thank you for all your replies! I also had my DD young and have only recently met the right person (well 2 years ago) so don't want to rush anything.

I'd like to think DD has had a wonderful decade just the two of us and it's time for a change some day.

I have 6 brothers, biggest age gap 15 years between me and my youngest brother. We don't have much in common tbh
