To not visit a smokers home when pregnant

Travelling to see my Grandmother tomorrow but I suggested meeting somewhere in town as she smokes heavily and her house, well, stinks. She offered to just smoke in the other room and leave the windows open. I am 20 weeks pregnant. AIBU for not wanting to go to her house?

I personally wouldn't choose to ever sit in a smoker's house. But thankfully I don't have any friends or family who do so it's not an issue.

Like a pp said, if my grandma was still alive I would sit with her wherever!

I don’t think infrequent visits are a problem. We have to live realistically in the world we live in, which is packed full of toxins. It’s entirely your choice of course but I would just go, on balance I would think the benefit to your nan is more than the cost - given the length of time exposed.

The NHS link is really aimed at those who expose their kids chronically, so have smokers in the household for example. My mother in law is a smoker, my dd adores her nan so we go to her house for the odd weekend and she comes here. She always smokes outside but the fumes are still lingering on her hands and clothes when she comes back in and dd runs straight to her. When dd was a neonate, and in fact until six months, we asked mil to always change her coat/wash her hands but we don’t anymore. Our bodies are amazing at dealing with small levels of these toxins.

I wouldn't go anyway, place sounds a revolting shithole. Sorry granny, but you reek.
