DC 2 and a half years apart.....I’ve had them ‘back to back’?!

Just that really...I’ve just announced I am 12 weeks with dc2. Ds1 will be 29 months when it’s born so almost a 2 and a half year gap...

I’ve had not one, not two, but three separate people make comments along the lines of ‘wow you’re brave to have them so close’, ‘so you’re having children back to back’, ‘you didn’t waste time did you’ etc etc...

I was not expecting that opinion at all. I thought it was quite an average age gap?

To be clear, I don’t care about their judgments, just genuinely interested as to whether MN considers this to be having children back to back or not?

God. When will people realise that the only acceptable response to a pregnancy announcement is 'congratulations'? Hmm
Grumble!

Perfect age gap in my opinion. I had 3 under 2! Shock

Congratulations. Isn't that a fairly normal gap? A long time ago admittedly but my gran had five in five years!

Tainbri · 12/03/2018 13:13

Sounds pretty average. I have three friends who have kids one year above the other school year wise and I would consider that more "back to back"

Tainbri · 12/03/2018 13:14

Oh and congratulations!! Grin

MirandaWest · 12/03/2018 13:15

My Dc are two school years apart. So are lots of their friends

Fibbertigibbet · 12/03/2018 13:17

I'd say under a year is back-to-back and under 18 months is a close age gap. 2.5 years is totally normal.

Congratulations OP!

I have 5 DC and the differences between them range from 12 months to 26 months so well used to all sorts of comments.

My youngest is 10 and we still get comments about having no tv Hmm

LegallyBrunet · 12/03/2018 15:10

My youngest three siblings all have only a year between them. That's back to back!

LegallyBrunet · 12/03/2018 15:11

Haha, @summermeadows I'm one of six and I get that all the time 'Oh did your parents not have a tv then?'

NoodlesLivesHere · 12/03/2018 15:18

Congratulations Panandthegang you're getting some odd comments though.

I'd consider my sister as having babies back to back because there's exactly a year between her two eldest. She hadn't even had her next period when she caught with DC2.

Although I'll concede you're braver than me. I refused to entertain the idea of DC2 until DC1 was 3!
