AIBU?

AIBU to not go and see 'Black Panther'

I have two boys, DS1 (13) and DS2 (8). Myself and DS1 are very much into Marvel/Comic books. Whereas DS2 is very into Manga.

I work as a nurse and have ridiculous shifts, I have an off day today, so I thought I would treat myself, for Mother's day, to watch, Blank panther, bringing the DC'S along.

However, being a fool, I didn't bother to check the age rating for the film. Which I believe is 12a. Would I BU to not go since it may not be suitable for DS2. Like I mentioned, DS2 isn't into Marvel (though he is into action films) and the film may not be suitable for him. But, I have been dying to see this film.

Any thoughts ? Or should I just stay at home and enjoy drinking my cup of tea ? Grin.

Black Panther has white people in it, so what is your issue?

Oh yeah The Greatest Showman which is pretty much the glorification/Hollywood version of the freak show.

Black panther was very well researched and there is an article about it that I will find and share in a bit. It explains the different tribes that were researched and the cultures and clothing.

i dont agree with any film only using one race of people black or white!

So if it was something like Slumdog millionaire you wouldn't be bothered

I didnt realise it had white people in. The hype was all about it being a black cast which i don't agree with. I am not racist at all i just think films should include black and white and 'Black Panther' from what i read was celebrated due to a black cast. I was wrong about that then. Sorry.

You could not be more 'subtle racist' if you tried you twat.

boopsy I actually can’t believe your posts.

I'd really love to hear the real reason why you won't watch a film that has an all black cast.

Would you not watch a film with an all white cast?

Boopsy your latest post makes you sound extremely racist. Not what you were going for eh?

How cool is The General? She stares down charging rhinos! I thought the female roles were a lot stronger than MCI's usual offerings and it was nice to see a film set in Africa that wasn't all about white saviors ... Can't get my head round Martin Freeman as an American, though!

I so want a battle rhino

Usedtobe, Freeman pretty much played himself but with a bad American accent. The rest of the cast was amazing though.

If no one has got your point that's because you haven't explained it very well

You appear to be happy to see a film with a mainly white cast but not a black cast

I appreciate that you would like an even mix of races but that does mean that you would not go and see Slumdog millionaire because there is an all 'indian' cast (apologies for any non indian cast members)

I had a nasty feeling it was going to be an " Avengers Fix Africa" sort of story but it was really not! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Specially the car chase/rhinos/boffin little sister / general Grace Jones stuff Grin

I didnt realise it had white people in.

It's a Marvel movie; you know Stan Lee is going to be in it. How many white people have to be in a movie in order for it to be acceptable?

I haven't seen it, nor will I because I'm not into super hero movies, but my husband took our son (16) and daughter (7) and they all loved it.

Boobsy is being deliberately racist, I’m surprised she hasn’t trotted out “reverse racism” majority of Hollywood blockbusters have mostly white cast or white actors in lead roles.
It’s a shame when people are so blinkered and proud of their predjudice🤷🏾‍♀️
