Sick toddler.. Do we still visit?

Today we were planning on visit DM for mother's day.

About an hour ago DD 19mo vomited. All her milk and toast came up. Thing is, she seems fine in herself. There's no temperature or diarrhoea (yet). She does have a cough which she's had for a while so maybe that plus the hiccups has made her vomit?

Everyone will be gutted if we don't go over. We're not planning on leaving until lunchtime, so if she isn't sick again in the meantime AIBU to still go?

As you say give it til lunch time. You'll know by then if it was a one off!

Dumbledoresgirl · 11/03/2018 08:39

You should ask your dm if she still wants you to visit.

gnarlington · 11/03/2018 08:39

Was it mucusy? Was she coughing/hiccuping when it happened?

GummyGoddess · 11/03/2018 08:40

Ask your mum. Dc did that, seemed fine. About 8 hours later DH started vomiting and then didn't stop for days.

DM is more than happy for us to visit. Yes, she was coughing and hiccuping. Still is. The vomit itself was watery with lumps of milk bluerghh. She didn't even cry, brave girl!

If she has had a cold/cough then it is quite common for them to be sick in the morning when coughing as they have been laid down all night. I'd just keep an eye on her and if your mum is happy, then go (if no further vomiting) and this is coming from a severe emetophobe!
Is she a regular hiccuper? I only ask because I have a friend whose child only gets hiccups when they have a bug. My DS however hiccups all the time!!

Fitzsimmons · 11/03/2018 08:51

When my DS was a baby and toddler he was sick with every cold. He had a really weak gag reflex and even slightly choking on food would make him vomit. I'd probably still go in your situation.

EndisinSight · 11/03/2018 08:51

That makes sense. She was coughing early this morning and woke herself up. She does occasional get hiccups.

Coughing can cause vomiting in young children. They don't really have the control to stop it! I hope you have no further incidents and you have a lovely day!

gnarlington · 11/03/2018 18:46

How did it go? Any more incidents!

gnarlington · 11/03/2018 18:46

? Not !

Hi, we went over lunchtime and DD was absolutely fine. Her usual cheeky self, made a hell of a mess but DM and DF were over the moon to see her. Was a lovely afternoon. Thank you all x
