To hate the people singing on this flight

Just that really. They’re pissed and loud and conducting a song-song.
I’ve asked them nicely to keep it down. It made them louder.
FFS!!!!!

"I don't want choir singing forced upon me. "

Quite dramatic language. Do you walk off when choirs sing in your town?
I've been at pubs and restaurants when choirs have started singing. I love it and join in if I know the songs.

Thistlebelle · 12/03/2018 02:29

How can people not enjoy a choir?

Well in my case I’d had an extraordinarily difficult day, topped off by a flight delay.

I wasn’t going on holiday or anything nice I was travelling for work and desperately trying to get a document reviewed for a deadline.

Those teenagers imposed their singing on me and the rest of the passengers. It was loud. It was impossible to ignore.

No one on that flight was pleased. Not one single person clapped or even smiled.

I like choirs. I’ve sung in choirs. But very loud singing on a plane is incredibly rude.

Thistlebelle · 12/03/2018 02:31

Gwen in a pub or a restaurant you can leave.

You are trapped on a plane.

Belphegor · 12/03/2018 02:57

"How can people not enjoy a choir?"

How can people be so lacking in empathy they fail to realise not everyone is like them?

cariadlet · 12/03/2018 05:50

FGS! Just because some people haven’t come across WiFi onboard, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist! How rude to try and discredit the OP just because she’s experiencing something outwith your limited experience of life! hmm

I've reread the whole thread and haven't found one post where somebody has been rude to the OP or tried to discredit the OP.

The thread has just gone off on a tangent because lots of people didn't know about wifi on planes and were curious. I'm another poster who flies regularly (several times a year on various airlines) and had never come across wifi. I remember when all electronics had to be switched off for landing and take off so am still quite excited to be able to use devices on airplane mode.

OP, the singing sounds horrendous. I hope cabin crew managed to shut them up for you.

Sorry to go back to WiFi - but is the WiFi something the airline provoke your own roaming? And is airline WiFi free? Which airlines do it? How come I have never heard of it before?

greenbeansqueen · 12/03/2018 07:34

Aridane - no idea why you haven’t heard of it! You don’t fly much? Most carriers offer it, particularly on transatlantic routes but charge for it too. Only a handful are free

greenbeansqueen · 12/03/2018 07:37

In the US it’s available on all domestic flights with carriers like American too...for $$

BarbaraofSevillle · 12/03/2018 08:52

I'm not sure that airline wifi is as ubiquitous as some people seem to think and it is probably more common on long haul, non budget or within the US. I fly about once a month but mainly fly budget, within Europe.

In the past year I've flown Monarch, Ryanair, FlyBe, KLM, Jet2 and Aer Lingus, and I'm fairly certain that none of these flights had wifi, or if they did, they didn't overtly advertise it (and I am one of those people who reads every poster and leaflet that I pass in the airport and the inflight magazine cover to cover so if it was on offer, I would have noticed and probably tutted at the price and not used it anyway).

Aridane · 12/03/2018 09:00

green - I fly several times a year, just haven’t come across it before. Though don’t fly to wIS

LoniceraJaponica · 12/03/2018 09:04

Where are you flying from/to?
I'm a bit worried that our flight to Majorca this year will have a post A level crowd going to Magaluf on it.

ParisUSM · 12/03/2018 09:24

I've never had wifi on a flight either, don't think it is very common in the UK. Heard Easyjet was doing something like Virgin trains do, allowing you access to entertainment but other than that haven't heard anything

ShatnersWig · 12/03/2018 09:32

I was on a train to London on Saturday leaving at 8.26 am from where I was for a two-hour journey. At a stop at 9.15 two blokes got on carrying cans of cheap lager and on sitting down immediately opened them up. Fortunately they didn't proceed to get pissed and start to sing but I don't get that mentality.

StickStickStickStick · 12/03/2018 09:36

Random singing would really irritate me as you're trapped and canf escape on a plane.

Gwens link to the male voice choir would truly truly get on my nerves. I had to look at the comments to see if every one else was irritated and was surprised people would welcome it. The way they're stood up the aisles etc means it's fully intentional and argggggg. I'm glad it's never happened to me when I've flown!!

SciFiRocker · 12/03/2018 09:38

My last couple of flights had WiFi.

Earplugs?

dingdongdigeridoo · 12/03/2018 10:23

Agh sounds annoying. Flying is unpleasant. I wish people would be more considerate about sharing such a tiny communal space. I sat next to someone who was painting their nails once. The stench from the nail varnish was awful in such a confined area.

You should have videoed them and submitted them to www.instagram.com/passengershaming/?hl=en
