To worry about getting a taxi to the airport?

Inspired by another thread about posting holidays etc on Facebook, I have now started worrying about getting a taxi to the airport for out holiday next week and therefore potentially advertising to everyone at the cab firm that we are up for being burgled....Confused Is there a clever way round this?

We have been on holiday recently and this never crossed my mind! What did was the fact we were leaving out house, in broad daylight with loads of suitcases and 2 very loud children, advertising to the street that our house was clearly empty for a while. Tbh, it would be very difficult to keep it a secret that your house will he empty. DD told the world and his dog about our holiday beforehand.

The people you need to watch out for are the ones that come and knock on your door offering to do your guttering, tarmac your drive or do your gardening they’re the ones that are checking you out, seeing what you’ve got and watching your in and out patterns - not the taxi company!!

Too minty
I agree with your comments. I'm away a lot for work and to be honest the taxi driver, firm or whatever coming back to break into my home has never even occured to me. Life is to short to worry about what if this happens. Worry less enjoy the holiday.

Ha ha @Sqish you're nuts! Are you my FIL?

ilovesooty · 10/03/2018 21:15

It's never occurred to me that taxi firms might be planning to burgle my home.

SyrilSneer · 11/03/2018 01:14

If you genuinely think this is a risk why would you book a taxi for someone else’s house number and let them get burgled?!

blastomama · 11/03/2018 01:17

tons of people will know you are on holiday. Loads. Why would you focus on the taxi driver?

tillytrotter1 · 11/03/2018 15:46

You could always stay at home if you're so paranoid! Don't your neighbours know that you're away, they could rob you too. If I felt like you do I would never leave the house.

All those saying give a neighbours address, you have no qualms about your neighbours being burgled then?!

Seriously though, this has never entered my head.
