DS will be having his birthday party at a soft play. To book the place there is a minimum fee, which allows you to invite 20 children.
We will only have 12 kids, so I asked if we could have some tea or snacks for the parents.
They said no.

Was this unreasonably and/or a cheeky request?

I would just tell them I have 20 kids coming and ‘oops 8 didn’t turn up’ then the adults can eat the kids spare food. You’re paying for it anyway!

Yep. As all pp have said, tell them 20 are coming. Although, what adults want a cheese spread butty and a few wotsits lol (soft play offerings where we live)

Thanks everyone, that makes me feel better.

I will call/write to them and simply ask them to cater for 20.

The reason I phrased it as coffee/tea or snacks was because I thought it would actually be cheaper for them to do this! But I understand what checkingforballoons says in that it would be confusing.

Re. numbers I do know we will not have more kids. The 12 is counting the no replies that might turn up!

Update - they have agreed now.
