To find this a weird thing to put on your website

A business page I follow don't want to put too much information on here. Has put on their website under a picture of black lady 'we welcome ladies of all colour.' Hmm
AIBU to think that is a very weird thing to say as if they think it makes them unique.

Yuck. What does the website do/sell?

PeerieBreeks · 08/03/2018 15:32

I can see it being relevant for a make up artist (Foundation shades) or a hairdresser to show that they have experience of different hair types.

Struggling to find anything else where it would be relevant.

Massages and other beauty treatments. I am wondering if they were trying to say their treatments are suitable for all skin types/tones and just massively worded it wrong.

I think hair salons feel the need to advertise that they welcome women of all colours because many salons do not work with Afro hair, sadly. The fact that a salon has someone trained to deal with Afro hair is a huge coup for them. Not sure
About beauty treatments though

QueenofallIsee · 08/03/2018 15:39

Its badly worded but to be completely fair, if you have afro hair lots of hairdressers aren't trained. Also, in my experience, different products for black skin are not available in salons all the time

DalekDalekDalek · 08/03/2018 15:41

Sounds badly worded and they mean skin types but it would make me avoid. I generally think that if someone needs to say something like that then it's because they don't really mean it.

Surely just saying "suitable for all skin types" would be easier. Why do they need a picture of a black woman. Like your going to see it and the sentence underneath and think "oh so that's what a black woman looks like. Well I look like that so I can use this company!"

Post so I can boycott

Blackteadrinker77 · 08/03/2018 15:49

Do they not accept Men?

NeedsAsockamnesty · 08/03/2018 16:03

Is it not normal within the beauty industry to make it very clear that you are able and have the applicable products/expertise to work with Black women?

If not it should be it’s not cool having women in this day and age having hair dressers look at you like you have two heads and sending you away
