To expect my family to remember dd's birthday?

My dd celebrated her birthday today and not one of my family sent a card or present. She's too young to notice but i feel aggrieved. My mother (when I eventually rang her up to see if she wanted to wish her grand-daughter 'Happy Birthday',) said she thought it was in 3 days time. Needless to say, dp's family all sent cards and presents.

dp's brother never sent a card, nor did my relatives from brum. i know how you feeling.

I would be really upset about this but not as upset as my family would be if they missed mt DD's birthday.

missgriss · 05/05/2007 22:40

I would be upset at this too. Do they tend not to send cards for anyone's birthday?

hex · 05/05/2007 22:41

especially too as I recently sent my sister's child a huge bouquet of flowers for her 18th. I don't begrudge sending her them but I do think a card for my dd isn't expecting too much.

Well my mum generally remembers. My youngest sister does too but she's visiting my mum, and they'd obviously got it into their heads that it was on the 8th. I know it could probably be excused but I don't forget their birthdays (you just write it on the calendar..!)
Guess I feel a little sensitive about it cause it took us so long to conceive dd in the first place, and for us, it's a real special day...but my family know that and I think could have made an effort to remember rightly.

definately not! my bil and his wife did not get my dd card on her 2nd birthday saying they didnt have any money which is fair enough however I couldn't believe it when less than a week later we were invited to there ds first b'day shebang which cost a fair few pounds! I think there is no excuse for not sending a card esp when Tesco etc sell them for about 20p ....families eh!

powder28 · 05/05/2007 22:56

Not unreasonable, just 'forget' theirs. Did she have a nice birthday anyway hex?

hex · 05/05/2007 23:03

yes thanks she did..and quite a number of my friends remembered, some in other countries - which was nice
