To not understand the moon cup love

So, if you use a moon cup, do you work? I just can't imagine wearing one at work.

It's scary to put in. I have the smallest size and I've had a child but I still find it scary and it reminds me of childbirth!

I just don't get it. I don really want to as it's more environmentally friendly. Did it take you a while to get used and adjust to using one?

Well I have read the whole thread and took the plunge and bout my 1st One!

They are great in theory but I have bought two and neither is quite right - one of them slips down, the other one (bigger) stays in place but I can't wee properly with it in. I do still wear them but I have to reinsert them every few hours.

No they don’t spill when you empty them (once you get the hang of it) . You pull it down and gravity keeps the liquid inside until you decide to tip it away. I usually empty mine into toilet or down shower plug hole. I’d advise when you first get it to practise putting it in and taking it out when you are not on your period and are not stressed or time pushed, so you can relax and learn how to do it. And then the first period you use it, just experiment with it, putting it in and taking it out in the shower at first, to give you confidence. If you can feel it, then take it out and put it in higher. And try it for a few periods to practise.

The poster that says she can have sex with it in is correct. It really does sit that high up. I too have occasionally forgotten I have it in and had sex. Realised once mid shag, but depending on the size of the guy’s cock i’m Shagging , the guy might not! ;-)

To the person who asked what it was like using one 18 years ago and if I told anyone, it was fine. I only told people I thought would be interested or amused!

Mine absolutely does not. There is not a chance that I could have sex with it in.

Why would you 'cart' sanitary supplies around?
Surely you'd just pop them in your pocket or bag, the same as you would your purse/phone?
Slight over-emphasis on the word 'cart' there! It just means carry.
Some things won't sit very well in a pocket, they need to go in a bag. If you are out for a full day or for a few days, you might need quite a few supplies.
But the point is, you have to make sure you carry supplies with you all the time you have your period or when your period is due. With a menstrual cup you can pop it in before your period even starts and you never have to remember to put anything in your bag or give any thought to how many supplies you have in or with you.

For those of you who struggle with removing it, there's a new one called the Keela Cup coming onto the market that has a pull cord to break the seal and make it easier to remove.

Not the cheapest one but it will pay for itself in no time.

I prefer the meluna because it's softer. The firmness of the mooncup isn't a plus for me. It didn't stop me weeing but I did feel the pressure sometimes whereas with the meluna I don't. But I wouldn't buy their extra soft one. On their website they say this is designed for women who have low muscle tone due to e.g. injury or disability or are more sensitive than usual, for most people the extra soft one will be too soft and risks being deformed by the vaginal wall and underperforming.

I don't think I needed the larger size of mooncup, even though I'd given birth. When I did the size calculator on meluna's site I came out as medium, which is smaller than the large mooncup, and I find it more comfortable.

18 years ago was only 2000 Grin hardly the dark ages! The Keeper was the first one as they are recognisable today which started in the late 80s. But they didn't start being available in the UK until about 2000.

SimonBridges · 09/03/2018 21:14

I bought my mooncup after seeing stickers in public toilets in Brighton. That must have been 2000

VioletPickles · 09/03/2018 21:15

Would never go back to pads etc. So much easier, cleaner, less pain.

hooochycoo · 09/03/2018 22:47

I bought mine at Glastonbury festival after seeing a sticker in the loo!

Voice of reason- I guess every women’s vagina is going to be different , fair enough. Or maybe I just shag underendowed men. Anyway.... as you were everyone. Enough from me!

TheKitchenWitch · 10/03/2018 07:27

I was using mine happily for a few years until my periods get so heavy and I couldn't any more - I have practice in taking it out, it just doesn't work any more. Yes it does spill everywhere because it is so full and you need to squeeze it to break the seal. I found it often didn't do it properly though and was quite painful as it sort of pulled on the inside iyswim.
This is all since having ds2 - I had no problems with the mooncup before!

I think I might try the meluna BertieBotts, a softer cup might be better for me.

Me too ! Thank God I tried mooncup been meaning to for years but too nervous ! Had it a year now and never looked back . I would never have coped at work using tampons and towels I would have constantly been in the loo changing . Highly reccomend 😊
