AIBU to think bumbags are strange things? (Lighthearted but bewildered)

I just don't get their purpose. What does a bumbag do that a normal bag can't? I am being lighthearted but also genuinely bewildered!

Do you have a bumbag? Why did you chose that over a little cross-body bag or something similar?

And the American name for them, fanny pack, is funny, right? Or am I being very immature?

They are very practical for going to concerts etc. Dont have to worry about pick pockets, losing your bag when you are distracted because Jon bon Jovi is singing just to you😀😀

They're back in fashion?? I had one back in the late 80's early nineties when I had babies, handy for phone, keys, money, while chasing little kids about the park when I needed to use both hands. I had a nifty little black leather one.

I want to get one to take to softplays and babygroups!
Can keep phone and purse in there so don't have to constantly check on bag or put in a locker!

What the hecks with all the ASOS modles wearing them like a shoulder bag. Did no one tell them they go round your middle?

I love mine, I have a selection. I find it extremely odd that people will yearn for the practicality of one but won’t use them because they’re not in fashion. That’s..... sad. Who wants to be a sheeple?

So to be clear - bum bags are back in fashion .... but only if you doing it casually over your shoulder .... but it's still called a bum bag.

Ds is 15 and super trendy and he has 2, both worn cross body, ds is 13 and has a hippy type one for festivals and going into town with her mates. Just the right size for phone, money and keys, easy to access. Hands free. Brilliant
