I suffer from bi polar and have had to see doctors a fair bit in the last few weeks. They stayed late for me last week (Dr and receptionist) when I was not having a great week and really needed help.
So I have an appointment tomorrow and I've baked them a bara brith - husband says it's weird, I am just trying to show my appreciation.
So weird and creepy behaviour or nice and thoughtful gesture?!

Lovely and thoughtful!

Treaclespongeandcustard · 06/03/2018 22:45

It's nice and thoughtful. I would appreciate that a lot if I was either the doctor or the receptionist. It's always nice to show appreciation when others go out of their way for us.

MrsMozart · 06/03/2018 22:46

Nice and thoughtful.

Kind and thoughtful.

Do you have any spares? I wouldn't mind trying one!

Rachael204 · 06/03/2018 23:24

Thanks everyone, I made 2 so will have to test a slice before I take it tomorrow!

@OhBeggerItsMorning it's fairly easy to make - tastes fab sliced and spread with a load of butter! www.visitwales.com/explore/traditions-history/recipes/bara-brith

He's only saying that do you'll have two spare and he can help you eat them Wink. It's not odd at all, it's very nice of you

arethereanyleftatall · 06/03/2018 23:34

Really lovely thing to do. I'm not sure what it is though - some kind of cake?

Rachael204 · 06/03/2018 23:36

@arethereanyleftatall it's a welsh tea bread (we are in Wales)
Basically soak mixed fruit in black tea and add some brown sugar. Let it soak overnight, add an egg, sr flour and some mixed spice and cook! www.visitwales.com/explore/traditions-history/recipes/bara-brith

I was expecting you to say something much more odd than that! Nah, that's nice, and shows appreciation.

frasier · 06/03/2018 23:53

Not odd at all, it's lovely and thoughtful and I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

AjasLipstick · 07/03/2018 00:01

MrsCrabbyTree · 07/03/2018 01:07

They will love you for showing your appreciation and thanks. Good on you Rachel.

DalekDalekDalek · 07/03/2018 01:51

I love bara brith - my friend's nan used to send me home with a loaf. Seems like a sweet thing to do to me, particularly if it is home made.

Thesmallthings · 07/03/2018 03:33

Sounds lovely and thoughtful and not werid at all.

Saying that they may not be allowed to take it some jobs have werid rules about accepting gifts. But ethier way they will appriciate the thought

Locotion · 07/03/2018 03:35

Mmmm jealous. Yum. I might try and mame some at weekend.

Bellamuerte · 07/03/2018 03:38

Very kind of you. I wouldn't eat it though. I worked in a public facing job and we were cautioned not to eat food provided by members of the public. Most times it would be ok but there's always that one time it isn't - people can be funny and you don't know what's in it. We were instructed to politely accept food items then put them in the bin. In which case you might as well keep it for yourself?

thebewilderness · 07/03/2018 03:41

It is lovely and thoughtful but I do not think home made is quite the thing any more. Better a packaged treat.
