I am so sad about poor Bill Turnbull.
AIBU to push dh to have a blood test done?
He has never visited his GP in the last 30 years.

Actually they kept saying he had no symptoms because of the type of pelvic pain he had. That's why the GPS all said no to a PSA check.

Also the research says it's not useful when no symptoms. That's also because they are looking at a crude threshold for PSA and not changes. The rates of detection in Denmark and here in Canada/America are significantly higher (about 20% higher) because PSA checks is a part of preventative care. You don't have a threshold applied but a change in PSA levels. No one in the U.K. is doing this. It's a cost calculation because the men who have prostate cancer tend to be at or past retirement. It's 'better value for money' to prioritize other diseases which affect younger people.

"You're much better off learning (or encouraging the men in your life to learn) the symptoms of prostate cancer. This is from the NHS website:

Symptoms of prostatitis can include:"

Prostatitis is not cancer.
