to ask if I’m the only one who hates driving behind a truck or van

I am aware I likely am being unreasonable but I get the actual rage when I get stuck behind a larger vehicle. Not because they drive slowly nessecarily but because I can’t see around them! I’m just wondering if this type of road rage is totally abnormal or not.

Rubs hands, licks lips, fluffs up hair on hands

YABU, OP. YABVVVU. If you are so close you can't see round my Very Big Killing Machine, you can't see my mirrors. Which means I can't see you. It also means you have no braking room. On a dry road, a modern HGV can stop faster than a car, especially if the AEBS radar brake has triggered. When you hit the underrun bar, everything forward of your A pillar will be destroyed. If the trailer is unladen, you might lift it enough to get underneath. That's your legs if you're lucky, or your head if not.

Chill.

On long haul motorway road trips my favourite place to be is in with the big trucks, they take care of you, know what is up ahead before you do and give you plenty of space. If you are driving properly you have the added advantage of car manoeuvrability and acceleration to get out of trouble should the worst happen.

Be polite and understand that a truck handles v differently to a car and you will be fine. Get too close or behave unpredictably and you will be pushed out for your own safety.

Truck driver fuckups are a lot rarer than car driver fuckups.

Vans like transits etc are best avoided because they are generally running late, just stay out of their way.

For any vehicle, if you can't see past just back off and chill the fuck out.

For Pete's sake OP, slow down, hang back, calm down
