Would you rather choose:

A) A job that pays you enough to live comfortably, not rich but comfortable, with two days off a week and 5 weeks holiday and normal 9-5 shifts

Or

B) A job where you earn a lot more, like a LOT MORE, but with only one day off a week, lots more early mornings/late nights and two weeks less holiday a year

I'm trying to make a difficult decision. I know no one can make it for me.. but opinions are welcomed. Thanks

How about job C?

So stay in B for now, gain what skills you can, make your CV look good and job hunt for something which pays more than A, bug less hours than B and doesn’t make you miserable.

Give yourself a deadline and if you haven’t found anything then get out and go back to A or something like A.

Job C is a good idea, try and thank/plan ahead if possible.
Could you do some part time or online courses to improve skills and then look and better paid reception/office manager jobs possibly working for a larger company with positions to get promoted to. Could you look into more specialised manager roles or even assistant roles which will lead to better pay in a few years? For example starting as purchasing administrator and training on the job/doing qualifications through work you could work your way up to a procurement manager role?

But this isn’t something you have to do if you don’t want to, there’s nothing wrong sticking with what makes you happy plus you’re young so have plenty of time on your side!

I know how you feel! I teach and do similar hours for half the wage. Worried to leave in case every job is the same but your talk of ‘A’ gives me some hope!

Job A even before i read your update with the salary figures!

TaytoAllDay · 29/03/2018 14:46

I'm in the exact same position as you!

Totally stuck, everyone has advised me to not takes the Sales job also.

Hard decision.

It gets sooo repetitive day in day out, ooh decisions.

I currently earn 30k+ 30 days holiday, sales role would be 25k +commission BUT apparently you can get let go if you aren't making the cut with sales.
