Mothers Day

Aibu to spend £20 on - gift for my mum for mother’s day? Was out with a friend this morning who spends far more on hers and thinks I’m being tight (we’re in roughly the same situation financially). My mum does a lot for me and my very young kids so I do want to spoil her but she’s just had a birthday on the weekend that we spent a fortune on. We’re also taking her somewhere nice for breakfast so it would be a £20 gift on top of that.

How much do you spend on mother’s day? Can anyone give me any gift ideas around the £20-£30 Range (not flowers). Thanks

Mother's Day should just be a token and if you are taking her for breakfast as well then I would say £20 is more than enough!!

This was my thinking!!!

I would spend about that as well, or less. In our family Mothering Sunday is about small tokens not massive gifts. Things I have bought my Mum in the past: books (she reads a lot); pretty notebooks for writing (she writes a lot!); bath stuff; body lotion; candles.

As a mum I think that’s a lovely present.

I have only ever expected( hoped for ) flowers. My DCs have enough expenses in their lives and will be financing their own little ones gifts. Flowers are a lovely token of appreciation and were the tradional Mothering Sunday gift.

OP that sounds great. I don't expect anything from DCs but it's nice to have a card and they usually get a small plant/nice handcream/whatever - much less than £20.
