Would you go to this party? (Pregnancy related)

One of my most long standing and dearest friends is turning 40 and having a big party. Lots of my other old friends will be there too.

However... I will be about 38.5 weeks pregnant on the night of the party. It's about 2.5 hours away from home and would mean staying over. DP is happy for me to go, but he'll have to stay at home with the toddler, so I'd be on my own if anything did happen.

Elective C is booked for 8 days after the party. Been told that baby is measuring a little bit big, but otherwise all looks good.

I am heavy and a bit tired, but lucky in that I have no SPD or other complaints that would make driving and going to a party/staying by myself in a hotel room difficult (apart from the lack of booze, obviously Sad).

Sooo, would you go in these circumstances, or would you stay on the sofa at home, a sensible distance away from your own hospital?

if its at a hotel could dp come with you but take care of toddler in hotel room (out to nearby park or whatever before but staying out way)

I started to get a lot of issues with my back when I was later on sat in cars I'm not sure I'd have wanted to be in a car so long (or sat anywhere that long really)

I wouldn't go, but then I'm a bit of a 'what if' type of person! I just think that you're going to be about 10 days from your due date, you're going to be tired and wanting to go to bed probably a lot earlier than anyone else ... is the party where you will be staying? Or will you have to get a taxi back to the hotel - which can be problematic. Plus the 2.5 hour drive ... that would put me off on its own! I went into labour very quickly with both of mine and was pretty much incapacitated until they came out! What if you went into labour whilst driving? What if you experience problems at the party and everyone is too tipsy/having too much of a good time to help you? I know it's doom and gloom from me, but I always have to be ok with the worst case scenario before making decision like this!

I wouldn’t but my DD arrived at 38 weeks exactly with no prior warning.

At 33 weeks this last weekend I struggled a bit more than I expected when we went out of the country for the weekend. Very short flights but still took a lot out of me. I can't imagine doing anything like that in 5 weeks time. O_o

I have to agree that I don't think I could have done a 2.5h drive at that stage.
But I'm not you.
Why don't you have a go at a long drive beforehand, see how you go?
But definitely not alone. Bad plan.
