about electric spend?

I currently live with my best friend and his niece. Originally when I moved in I agreed that I would put £40 a month on electric (prepayment meters). However, I seem to be the only one paying it! His niece doesn't actually live in the house she lives in the shed (long story) but she does come in and use the electric. My friend doesn't pay for electric either. We seem to be blazing through electric and today I have had to put foot down that I wont put any more then agreed on. I am happy to put the £25 cold weather payment on as that what it is for. We seem to be going through a lot of electric in a short time.

Am I being unreasonable to refuse to put more on?

Depends massively on how the finances are done.

If you pay £40 electric plus an equal share of everything else then that's wrong.

If you ONLY pay £40 electric; that's fine

If it’s the only bill you pay then yes your being ur. Maybe say from now it gets split 3 ways so you all put £40 on at once

Depends really on if you're paying rent too?

Of course now on UK we're at most expensive time...

We're all electric...in an apartment... Currently we're burning through about 5£ daily...

So 150 this month and that's without water/council tax bills

I also pay £250 in rent and the broadband and mobile.

How much rent do they pay and what other bills do they do? Why are you paying for there mobile bill?

darkriver198868 · 05/03/2018 15:29

The niece doesnt pay anything. My friend owns his house and I pay for my own mobile.

Are you covering the electricity, or is the £40 supposed to be part payment?

You can check your usage, to see if it's fair, if so.

darkriver198868 · 05/03/2018 15:30

The mobile and broadband is extra. On top of the £250

I am covering the electric. I seem to be the only one paying bills.

Do you pay the full broadband, is it used by you all?

For your area how good a deal are you getting for your overall cost of your accommodation?

darkriver198868 · 05/03/2018 15:32

I pay for the broadband exclusively and its used by everyone in the house. I am getting a good deal on rent.

Does your ll use the mobile? If not, that is not a household bill.

darkriver198868 · 05/03/2018 15:35

The mobile is included in my broadband, telephone and mobile package.

OP posts:
Booboobooboo84 · 05/03/2018 15:39

Ok well you need to disregard the portion of the bill that covers your mobile. It’s not a household expense.

What have the ll and his niece said about you refusing to add extra to the electric?

darkriver198868 · 05/03/2018 15:42

I havent discussed it with the niece and my friend said it was fine.
