Neighbours dog keeps pooing in our front garden

We have moved into a new estate & our neighbours dog 2 doors up poohs in our front garden every morning & in another neighbours. We havn't said anything to the dog owners but another huge pile left in our garden this morning & we have had enough. They leave him out the front at 7am on their way to work for a run for about 10 mins, the other neighbours have caught him in the act.
The other neighbours have contacted the residents comittee who are going to put clean up after your dog signs on our road & my husband wants to pop in to them tonight. It is definitely there dog as he's the only one on the road. What would you do?

do they leave the dog to it?
just bite the bullet and tell them.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 05/03/2018 09:16

If you're 100% sure it is their dog then, yes, go and speak to them. It's gross.

CapnHaddock · 05/03/2018 09:17

Go and talk to them

RavenLG · 05/03/2018 09:19

They just leave the dog to roam the streets in the morning?
They definitely need to be spoken to! The dog could get hit by a car, something could happen like it could attack / be attacked. They sound highly irresponsible.
If they don’t listen bag all the poop up through the week and dump it on their doorstep

TheJoyOfSox · 05/03/2018 09:20

Can you get proof that it’s their dog?

Get up earlier enough to be waiting with camera in hand, then present your proof to the dogs owners.

It’s a disgusting act from a dog owner to allow their pet to shit on your garden, you must nip this in the bud.

Hoppinggreen · 05/03/2018 09:20

Try speaking to them but if they are the kind of idiot who lets their dog roam free I doubt you will get anywhere
Shovel up the pool and dump it back in their garden

Bluelady · 05/03/2018 09:20

I'm tempted to say stick it through their letterbox but realise that's childish and unnecessary. Try speaking to them but be prepared for such irresponsible dog owners not to recognise there's a problem. They should be going out with the dog and clearing up after it, not letting it out to foul wherever it happens to be.

loobywench · 05/03/2018 09:21

They need telling! If they don't do anything about it pick it up and give it back to them Grin

makingmiracles · 05/03/2018 09:27

We had this problem a couple of years ago, we had a dotty women live below us who was a complete PITA, her bf then moved in with his dog and they would let both dogs out and shut the front door, then let them back in 10 mins later, meanwhile the dogs would poop in mine and my neighbours gardens(no fences) she would reluctantly come and clear it up when asked(eventually) but acting like She was doing me some sort of favour!! got so fed up with it that we put up a fence in the end after going away for a week and returning to fine 24 piles of crap on our grass Angry

Def speak to them, but don’t expect reasonable behaviour, are you able to put up some sort of fence? (We made ours with trellis)

celebrate30 · 05/03/2018 09:28

Yes he's left out for 10 mins in the morning & he has chose our house 2 doors down from his owners & the other neighbours 2 doors up to do his business. I can't understand why the owners won't let him out the back garden, they probably don't want to clean up after him themselves.
We don't know the neighbours, it's a new development so we are all new here & getting to know each other which makes it awkward... but hubby & other neighbour are going to call into the owners tonight

Aprilmightmemynewname · 05/03/2018 09:31

Remember to take the poo with you!!

TheCatsMother44 · 05/03/2018 09:32

I was going to ask what they said when you spoke to them about it but can see you're doing that tonight.

I think actually knocking on their door or putting a note through their door at least would be your first port of call. Going to the residents committee first before having an actual conversation with your neighbours will only make neighbourly relations work IMO as it'll look like you've all gone behind their backs and ganged up on them when the situation could be resolved quickly with one conversation.

celebrate30 · 05/03/2018 09:38

We had originally thought of a note but after finding another pile this morning we've decided enough is enough...

Get a shovel and dig the ground up under the turn with the turn proudly at the top. Then put it on their doorstep.

Rinse. Repeat.

abigailsnan · 05/03/2018 09:53

What awful lazy neighbours they must know the dog "goes" somewhere for goodness sake !!
I would certainly go and speak to them asap.
Do they let the dog out when they come home in the evening or is the poor thing shut in until the next day,not a very happy life for any dog,do you have a dog fouling warden scheme set up as yet or is the development not signed off to the Local Council for these street signs to be put up.

AllEndsWell · 05/03/2018 09:59

I think I'd call the dog warden first and tell them that there is a loose dog roaming the street, totally unsupervised. Take a picture/video if you can.

I don't see any point in approaching the neighbours. They are clearly idiots who don't give a shit and you'll probably get a mouthful of abuse.

Whilst you're waiting for a response from the dog warden, wait until they go to work and then dump it on their front lawn.

knowwhereyourheadis · 05/03/2018 10:07

Give it back to them. On their lawn, doorstep, drive. Either bagged or unbagged. I'll leave that up to you. They'll soon get fed up with it!

Pikued · 05/03/2018 10:13

Some councils are offering free council tax for a year to people who provide evidence of dog owners not picking up dog mess.

celebrate30 · 05/03/2018 10:42

I post an update tonight, blood still boiling, we have young children, it's disgusting

Aprilmightmemynewname · 05/03/2018 10:46

Take dog to the pound. Will cost her to collect. £70 round my way.

CoraPirbright · 05/03/2018 11:00

But how do your gardens work? Are there no fences anywhere out at the front? Surely the dog is in terrible danger of wandering into the road and getting killed by a car? If this is the case, I cant quite get my head around someone for whom picking up a poo from their own dog outweighs the risk of that dog getting run over. Disgusting on many levels.

Knowivedonewrong · 05/03/2018 11:35

If you've seen the dog crapping on your garden, then bag it up, (not nice) and leave it on their doorstep. Keep doing it till they do something about the dog.

celebrate30 · 05/03/2018 12:54

We have a fences seperating the houses but no gates, 3 up 3 down style

OP posts:
Happened · 05/03/2018 13:19

If they don't stop after you speak to them you can report them to the council and they will fine them.

Namechangetempissue · 05/03/2018 13:28

Scoop up with a hand trowel or shovel and deposit back onto their property- preferably on the path to the front door so they have to step over it or in itto get in. Don't bag it, why should you? You are not their hired help. If you can catch them in, a word face to face or a letter through the door.
