Wibu to ask for this?

Hello.

Going on holiday and visiting Disneyland Paris. Considering annual passes which mean we can get discounts for other members of the group (all family). Would I be unreasonable to ask for half of the savings they make if we do this? So if the saving is 20% ask them for half of that 20%? They would be doing it anyway just paying more if we didn’t get the annual passes.

Also do I mention this when suggesting it?

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 05/03/2018 06:28

No, that’s appalling Shock

Gizlotsmum · 05/03/2018 06:29

Really why? They save money because of us, why shouldn’t we get some of that saving?

OP posts:
W00t · 05/03/2018 06:30

Why? Just why would you do that?

SleepFreeZone · 05/03/2018 06:31

Why would you do that though? You know it will likely cause bad feeling.

Gizlotsmum · 05/03/2018 06:32

Ok I would be unreasonable but can you explain why you are so horrified please? I honestly thought it was fair enough. Why should they benefit from all the savings made because of us?

OP posts:
HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 05/03/2018 06:32

So you want to make profit from your family members? That is weird as fuck. You sound tight and lacking in moral fibre.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 05/03/2018 06:32

You need it explaining Op? Really?

Gizlotsmum · 05/03/2018 06:33

So we could save them say £200 on holiday but see none of that ourselves? Whereas if we didn’t do it they would need to pay that £200 anyway?

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 05/03/2018 06:33

That sounds a bit odd. They are family and you want to make a profit from them?

LittleMissPetty · 05/03/2018 06:33

Because there is such a thing as a good deed without a reward for yourself. Surely helping them out should be enough for you.

If you asked me to give you 10% of the holiday because you saved me 20% I'd rather pay full price and go another time not with you as it sets the whole tone.

Gizlotsmum · 05/03/2018 06:34

Yep I genuinely thought it wasn’t unreasonable.. glad I asked here. I would offer if someone was saving me money to pay them half that saving though. I am still better off than I was before they offered

OP posts:
UrsulaPandress · 05/03/2018 06:35

I know maths isn't my strong point but surely you are saving because of them? It's a group discount isn't it?

Gizlotsmum · 05/03/2018 06:35

Fair enough. Glad I asked here first. Thank you

OP posts:
Hengine · 05/03/2018 06:36

If a family member got me a discount when they weren’t getting it themselves I would offer them money.
Can you work out the totally for the whole group then split it evenly?

lunar1 · 05/03/2018 06:36

I'd rather pay the extra £200 than owe you for your attitude.

Gizlotsmum · 05/03/2018 06:36

Nope. We pay more for passes but can get them cheap entrance and discounts ( we obviously make some of those savings ourselves so discounts on meals etc ) but we wouldn’t be paying for their meals so no additional saving for us but additional saving for them

OP posts:
Idontevencareanymore · 05/03/2018 06:36

It's a bit odd you want to make savings for your family but then take money back off them in order to get them the savings. And also they'd be contributing to your annual pass. Bizzare really.

W00t · 05/03/2018 06:36

But they're family! I could not do that.

Sparklingbrook · 05/03/2018 06:38

Are you sure you want to go on holiday with these people?

Gizlotsmum · 05/03/2018 06:39

Fair enough glad I asked. 😊

OP posts:
Angrybird345 · 05/03/2018 06:45

Wow! That’s so miserly!!

SpareASquare · 05/03/2018 06:48

You must be a ton of fun to go on holiday with OP Hmm

See how the holiday goes first and if you want to ensure they never ask you again, go ahead and ask them for the 'savings' you made them Grin

chocatoo · 05/03/2018 06:51

How much extra do you have to pay for the passes? I might say to them ‘if you would be interested, we could get annual passes for £x which would mean you could save £y would you be interested in sharing the extra cost?’

Parrothead · 05/03/2018 06:52

OP the reason it’s unreasonable is because it’s not costing you anything more than you would have spent already. So you’re just profiting, basically. It would be different if you bought some kind of group pass for everyone, but you are buying annual passes for your family. The extra discount for others is a nice side benefit for them but takes nothing out of your pocket.

VanessaShanessaJenkins · 05/03/2018 06:55

You say you are going on holiday- are you planning on actually staying at Disneyland?

Not many people actually buy individual tickets to Disneyland, most get them included in their holiday or if they stay off-site buy annual passes themselves.

Will you use your discount in the shops and restaurants for them but claim half back too?
