hmm.... what does mumsnet jury think.

Is it ok or not to destroy snowmen/snow sculptures? are they fair game in the park and public space? but safe in gardens? What's the snowetiquette here?

Bad form in my mind. A snowman should be respected and doesn't deserve a kick in its snowy body Grin

Does it start with lax parenting? Idk. The snowmen in our local park remain intact. Perhaps it’s because the field is big and the teenagers can’t be bothered to go there. But we are in a village so perhaps having more space relative to the population than a town has something to do with it.

Twirling swings round the top bar
Can't you just untwirl them?!
It's nothing like smashing a snowman in someone's garden
Grown men were throwing huge snowballs at my dcs snow family as they walked by my garden
Arseholes
We took great pleasure in pelting them with snowballs on the way back

@LittleMe03 my mum did. And reported it. And bugger All was done about it.

yup pumpkins and snowmen tend to be destroyed around here too. we have to keep our pumpkins inside at night and when we leave the house

Healthywealthyandwise · 05/03/2018 12:17

We built one on the drive in front of my house and some horrible teenagers came along and destroyed it. I saw it with my own eyes as in I heard them outside and looked out the window as it happened. I went and shouted at them but what do they care? Felt so sad for my poor DC who put so much effort into building it.

YANBU, but it's one of those things that is depressingly likely if you build it in a public space. I would imagine children graduate to it from chasing pigeons.

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 05/03/2018 12:41

Equally as bad, is next door's kids walking on the snow in your garden but leave theirs untouched. Angry

ToadOfSadness · 05/03/2018 13:32

Build your snowman around big rocks so that when someone kicks him it hurts. It will also take less time to build him.

We were once in a large sandpit in a park. My DCs were building a pretty impressive sand city, boy came over and started trashing it. I asked him to stop and his mum went ape on me, apparently we don't own the sand and he can do as he pleases. I wonder where the boy got his behaviour from?
