If you’re a SAHP, what is your household income? And do you struggle financially?

Six figures now with high outgoings - school fees x3 and a fairly high mortgage payment. We are comfortable and can afford holidays. I have been a sahm for 10 years though and it was a lot more difficult financially for a few years - probably closer to £60k gross when I first stopped working.

As others mentioned outgoings are more impt than income. When you got on the housing ladder can make a massive difference, some of my friends have 300k mortgages some have 700k ones.

The 6 figures thing always confuses me, this could be 110k or 950k a massive diff in lifestyle.

Agree that 6 figures is a bit vague but I would feel like a dickhead saying any more than that, even on mumsnet (not that I tell people in real life anything about our income at all).

About 40k after housing costs, but before bills. In the south east. Feels very comfortable to me, we do a lot with our kids and they do all the clubs they want etc. I do buy and sell a lot of their things on eBay, and mostly cook from scratch, which seems to save a fair amount of money.

50k with no mortgage. Comfortably off and can afford to save but are not excessive spenders eg 2 old cars, 1 uk holiday a year

seagulltargetpractice · 04/03/2018 13:44

£50k ish. Depends. DH is self employed.

Net of tax is about £12,000-£15,000 per month as there are more than one sources. Non-discretionary outgoings about £5,200 per month. Save, gift some, do not buy expensive things or luxury holidays.

Around £40k but no housing costs which makes a difference.

Never seem to have any money left at the end of the month though.

It's all relative.
