Not having water is COMPLETELY unacceptable and having to wait until Wednesday is outrageous. Call your landlord and demand the problem be fixed TODAY.

QuiteLikely5 · 03/03/2018 19:16

That’s outrageous! Do you have insurance?

Contact your council on Monday / they will give your landlord the opportunity to respond quickly and if he doesn’t they will usually step in and bill him

I’m surprised you have to wait that long as something like this would be covered by home insurance and classed as an emergency

Maybe he doesn’t have it either

Considering texting him and advising you will stay in a b&B until Wednesday and deduct from his rent

What does your home insurance say?

missiondecision · 03/03/2018 19:21

Do you have insurance ?? Check for Home serve they will call a plumber free of charge of you have cover.
If not, call a plumber and bill the landlord??? Is that allowed??

If it's just the tap that's leaking, you may be able to just isolate the water supply to that tap. Is there a valve in the pipe that leads up to the tap? It will look like a screw with a straight slot head. You can turn this 90° to turn off the water to the tap.

I can't see any valves there, but might be the angle of your picture. Have a look at the link I posted to see if that helps, there's a picture of what you are looking for there.

Follow the copper pipe up to your cold tap. you will see there is a small valve with a line on it, that you can put a screwdriver into the line, if you see what I mean. Turn it until the water goes off.
